- Kapitel 16 -

(Zephaniah 2:8–11)

Send the tribute lambs to the ruler of the land, from Sela in the desert to the mount of Daughter Zion.

Like fluttering birds pushed out of the nest, so are the daughters of Moab at the fords of the Arnon:

“Give us counsel; render a decision. Shelter us at noonday with shade as dark as night. Hide the refugees; do not betray the one who flees.

Let my fugitives stay with you; be a refuge for Moab from the destroyer.” When the oppressor has gone, destruction has ceased, and the oppressors have vanished from the land,

in loving devotion

a throne will be established in the tent of David. A judge seeking justice and hastening righteousness will sit on it in faithfulness.

We have heard of Moab’s pomposity, his exceeding pride and conceit, his overflowing arrogance. But his boasting is empty.

Therefore let Moab wail; let them wail together for Moab. Moan for the raisin cakes of Kir-hareseth, you who are utterly stricken.

For the fields of Heshbon have withered, along with the grapevines of Sibmah. The rulers of the nations have trampled its choicest vines, which had reached as far as Jazer and spread toward the desert. Their shoots had spread out and passed over the sea.(b)

So I weep with Jazer for the vines of Sibmah; I drench Heshbon and Elealeh with my tears. Triumphant shouts have fallen silent over your summer fruit and your harvest.

Joy and gladness are removed from the orchard; no one sings or shouts in the vineyards. No one tramples the grapes in the winepresses; I have put an end to the cheering.

Therefore my heart laments for Moab like a harp, my inmost being for Kir-heres.(c)

When Moab appears on the high place, when he wearies himself and enters his sanctuary to pray, it will do him no good.

This is the message that the LORD spoke earlier concerning Moab.

And now the LORD says, “In three years, as a hired worker counts the years, Moab’s splendor will become an object of contempt, with all her many people. And those who are left will be few and feeble.”

Moab vernichtet

(Zephanja 2,8-11)

Herr! sende das Lamm, den Beherrscher der Erde, aus Petra in der Wüste nach dem Berge der Tochter Sion.

Und es wird geschehen: Wie ein flüchtiger Vogel und eine aus dem Nest aufgescheuchte Brut, so werden die Töchter Moabs bei dem Übergang über den Arnon sein.

Schaffe Rat, fasse Entschluss, mache deinen Schatten am Mittag der Nacht gleich; verbirg die Flüchtlinge und verrate die Versprengten nicht!

Lass meine Flüchtlinge bei dir wohnen, sei für Moab ein Versteck vor dem Verwüster; denn beendet ist die Zerstörung, vernichtet die Bedrückung, verschwunden, der das Land zertrat.

Und aufgerichtet wird in Gnaden ein Thron und es wird darauf in Wahrheit in der Mitte Davids ein Richtender sitzen und einer, der das Recht erforscht und schnell vergilt, was recht ist.

Wir haben von Moabs Stolze gehört, er ist sehr stolz; sein Stolz und seine Anmaßung und sein Ingrimm ist größer als seine Macht.

Deshalb wird Moab zu Moab hinheulen, ganz Moab wird heulen; denen, die sich an Mauern von gebrannten Ziegelsteinen erfreuen, verkündet ihre Strafen!

Denn die Umgebung von Hesebon ist verwüstet, den Weinberg von Sabama haben Völkergebiete zerstört; Moabs Ranken haben sich bis Jazer verbreitet, sich bis in die Wüste verirrt; Moabs Sprösslinge waren verlassen von Hilfe und wanderten über das Meer.

Deswegen beweine ich, wie Jazer, den Weinberg Sabamas; ich überströme dich mit meinen Tränen, Hesebon und Eleale, denn auf deine Weinlese und deine Ernte ist der Ruf der Keltertreter hereingebrochen.

Und es wird Freude und Jubel von dem Fruchtgefilde hinweggenommen, in den Weinbergen frohlockt und jauchzt man nimmer; der Keltertreter keltert keinen Wein mehr, wie gewöhnt, in der Kufe; den Freudenruf der Treter habe ich verstummen gemacht.

Darum tönt mein Inneres zu Moab wie eine Zither und mein Herz zur Ziegelsteinmauer.

Und es geschieht, wenn Moab erscheint und sich abmüht auf seinen Höhen, eintritt in sein Heiligtum, um zu beten, so wird es nichts erreichen.

Das ist das Wort, welches der Herr dereinst zu Moab gesprochen;

jetzt aber hat der Herr also geredet und gesprochen: In drei Jahren, wie die Jahre eines Taglöhners, wird die Herrlichkeit Moabs von seinem ganzen zahlreichen Volke hinweggenommen und der Überrest wird klein und gering und durchaus nicht groß sein.
