- Kapitel 15 -

(2 Chronicles 26:3–23)

In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam, the king of Israel: Azariah, the son of Amaziah, reigned as king of Judah.(a)

He was sixteen years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for fifty-two years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.

And he did what was pleasing before the Lord, in accord with all that his father, Amaziah, did.

Yet truly, he did not demolish the high places. And still the people were sacrificing, and burning incense, in the high places.

Now the Lord struck the king, and he became a leper, even until the day of his death. And he was living in a separate house by himself. And truly, Jotham, the son of the king, governed the palace, and he judged the people of the land.(b)

Now the rest of the words of Azariah, and all that he did, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah?

And Azariah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his ancestors in the city of David. And Jotham, his son, reigned in his place.

Zechariah Reigns in Israel

In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah, the king of Judah: Zechariah, the son of Jeroboam, reigned over Israel, in Samaria, for six months.

And he did what is evil before the Lord, just as his fathers had done. He did not withdraw from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

Then Shallum, the son of Jabesh, conspired against him. And he struck him openly, and killed him. And he reigned in his place.

Now the rest of the words of Zechariah, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

This was the word of the Lord, which he spoke to Jehu, saying: “Your sons, even to the fourth generation, shall sit upon the throne of Israel.” And so it happened.

Shallum Reigns in Israel

Shallum, the son of Jabesh, reigned in the thirty-ninth year of Azariah, the king of Judah. And he reigned for one month, in Samaria.

And Menahem, the son of Gadi, ascended from Tirzah. And he went into Samaria, and he struck Shallum, the son of Jabesh, in Samaria. And he killed him, and reigned in his place.

Now the rest of the words of Shallum, and his conspiracy, by which he carried out treachery, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

Then Menahem struck Tirzah, and all who were in it, and its borders around Tirzah. For they were not willing to open to him. And he killed all of its pregnant women, and he tore them open.

Menahem Reigns in Israel

In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah, the king of Judah: Menahem, son of Gadi, reigned over Israel for ten years, in Samaria.

And he did what was evil before the Lord. He did not withdraw from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin, during all his days.

Then Pul, the king of the Assyrians, came into the land. And Menahem gave Pul one thousand talents of silver, so that he would be a help to him, and so that he might strengthen his kingdom.

And Menahem proclaimed a tax upon Israel, on all who were powerful and wealthy, so that each one would give to the king of the Assyrians fifty shekels of silver. Then the king of the Assyrians turned back, and he did not remain in the land.

Now the rest of the words of Menahem, and all that he did, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

And Menahem slept with his fathers. And Pekahiah, his son, reigned in his place.

Pekahiah Reigns in Israel

In the fiftieth year of Azariah, the king of Judah: Pekahiah, the son of Menahem, reigned over Israel, in Samaria, for two years.

And he did what was evil before the Lord. He did not withdraw from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.(c)

Then Pekah, the son of Remaliah, his commander, conspired against him. And he struck him in Samaria, in the tower of the king’s house, near Argob and Arieh, and with him fifty men from the sons of the Gileadites. And he killed him, and reigned in his place.

Now the rest of the words of Pekahiah, and all that he did, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

Pekah Reigns in Israel

In the fifty-second year of Azariah, the king of Judah: Pekah, the son of Remaliah, reigned over Israel, in Samaria, for twenty years.

And he did what was evil before the Lord. He did not withdraw from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

In the days of Pekah, the king of Israel, Tiglath-pileser, the king of Assyria, arrived and captured Ijon, and Abel Bethmaacah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, and the entire land of Naphtali. And he took them away into Assyria.

Then Hoshea, the son of Elah, conspired and carried out treachery against Pekah, the son of Remaliah. And he struck him, and killed him. And he reigned in his place, in the twentieth year of Jotham, the son of Uzziah.(d)

Jotham Reigns in Judah

(2 Chronicles 27:1–9)

In the second year of Pekah, the son of Remaliah, the king of Israel: Jotham, son of Uzziah, reigned as king of Judah.

He was twenty-five years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.

And he did what was pleasing before the Lord. In accord with all that his father, Uzziah, had done, so he did.

Yet truly, he did not take away the high places. And still the people were immolating, and burning incense, in the high places. But he edified the gate of the house of the Lord to be very sublime.(e)

Now the rest of the words of Jotham, and all that he did, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah?

In those days, the Lord began to send, into Judah, Rezin, the king of Syria, and Pekah, the son of Remaliah.

And Jotham slept with his fathers, and he was buried with them in the city of David, his father. And Ahaz, his son, reigned in his place.

Asarja regiert in Juda

(2. Chronik 26,3-23)

Im siebenundzwanzigsten Jahre Jeroboams, des Königs von Israel, ward Azarias, der Sohn des Amasias, des Königs von Juda, König.

Sechzehn Jahre war er alt, als er zu herrschen begann, und herrschte zweiundfünfzig Jahre in Jerusalem; der Name seiner Mutter war Jechelia aus Jerusalem.

Er tat, was vor dem Herrn wohlgefällig war, ganz so, wie sein Vater getan.

Indes die Höhen zerstörte er nicht, noch opferte das Volk und zündete Räucherwerk auf den Höhen an.

Der Herr aber schlug den König, dass er aussätzig ward bis zum Tage seines Todes, und er wohnte in einem freistehenden Hause abgesondert, Joathan aber, der Sohn des Königs, leitete den Palast und richtete das Volk des Landes.

Was aber sonst noch von Azarias zu sagen ist, alles, was er getan, ist das nicht geschrieben in den Jahrbüchern der Könige von Juda?

Und Azarias entschlief zu seinen Vätern und sie begruben ihn bei seinen Vorfahren in der Davidsstadt und Joathan, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.

Zacharias regiert in Israel

Im achtunddreißigsten Jahre des Azarias, des Königs von Juda, ward Zacharias, der Sohn des Jeroboams, König über Israel in Samaria sechs Monate;

er tat, was vor dem Herrn böse ist, wie seine Väter getan hatten, er ließ nicht von den Sünden Jeroboams, des Sohnes Nabats, welcher Israel zur Sünde verführt hatte.

Sellum aber, der Sohn des Jabes, machte eine Verschwörung gegen ihn, schlug ihn öffentlich und tötete ihn und ward König an seiner Statt.

Was aber sonst noch von Zacharias zu sagen ist, alles, steht dies nicht geschrieben in den Jahrbüchern der Könige von Israel?

Dies ist der Ausspruch des Herrn, welchen er an Jehu ergehen ließ, da er sprach: Deine Söhne sollen bis ins vierte Geschlecht auf dem Throne Israels sitzen! Und also ist es geschehen.

Schallum regiert in Israel

Sellum, der Sohn des Jabes, ward König im neununddreißigsten Jahre Azarias, des Königs von Juda, und herrschte einen Monat lang in Samaria.

Da zog Manahem, der Sohn Gadis, von Thersa herauf, kam nach Samaria, schlug Sellum, den Sohn Jabes, zu Samaria und tötete ihn und ward König an seiner Statt.

Was aber sonst noch von Sellum zu sagen ist und seiner Verschwörung, durch die er Nachstellungen bereitete, alles, steht das nicht geschrieben in den Jahrbüchern der Könige von Israel?

Dann schlug Manahem Thapsa und alle, die darin waren, und sein Gebiet von Thersa aus; den sie hatten ihm die Tore nicht öffnen wollen, und er tötete alle ihre Schwangeren und schnitt sie auf.

Menahem regiert in Israel

Im neununddreißigsten Jahre Azarias, des Königs von Juda, ward Manahem, der Sohn Gadis, König über Israel in Samaria, zehn Jahre.

Er tat, was vor dem Herrn böse war; er ließ nicht von den Sünden Jeroboams, des Sohnes Nabats, ab, welcher Israel sein Lebelang zur Sünde verführt hatte.

Es kam Phul, der König von Assyrien, in das Land und Manahem gab dem Phul tausend Talente Silbers, dass er ihm hilfreich wäre und seine Herrschaft befestigte.

Und Manahem legte Israel, allen Mächtigen und reichen, Zahlungen auf, um das Geld dem Könige von Assyrien zu geben, fünfzig Sekel Silbers einem jeden; da kehrte der König der Assyrier zurück und blieb nicht in dem Lande.

Was aber sonst noch von Manahem zu sagen ist und alles, was er getan, steht das nicht geschrieben in den Jahrbüchern der Könige von Israel?

Und Manahem entschlief zu seinen Vätern; sein Sohn Phakeja ward König an seiner Statt.

Pekachija regiert in Israel

Im fünfzigsten Jahre Azarias, des Königs von Juda, ward Phakeja, der Sohn Manahems, König über Israel in Samaria, zwei Jahre;

er tat, was vor dem Herrn böse war, er ließ nicht ab von den Sünden Jeroboams, des Sohnes Nabats, welcher Israel zur Sünde verführt hatte.

Phakee aber, der Sohn Romelias, sein Feldherr, machte eine Verschwörung gegen ihn und schlug ihn zu Samaria im Turme des königlichen Hauses bei Argob und bei Arie, und mit ihm waren fünfzig Mann von den Söhnen der Galaaditer, und er tötete ihn und ward König an seiner Statt.

Was aber sonst noch von Phakeja zu sagen ist und alles, was er getan hat, steht das nicht geschrieben in den Jahrbüchern der Könige von Israel?

Pekach regiert in Israel

Im zweiundfünfzigsten Jahre Azarias, des Königs von Juda, ward Phakee, der Sohn Romelias, König über Israel zu Samaria, zwanzig Jahre.

Er tat, was vor dem Herrn böse war, er ließ nicht ab von den Sünden Jeroboams, des Sohnes Nabats, welcher Israel zur Sünde verführt hatte.

In den Tagen Phakees, des Königs von Israel, kam Theglathphalasar, der König von Assyrien, und nahm Ajon und Abel-Beth, Maacha, Janoe, Kedes, Asor, Galaad, Galiläa und das ganze Land Nephthali ein und führte seine Bewohner nach Assyrien weg.

Osee aber, der Sohn Elas, machte eine Verschwörung gegen Phakee, den Sohn Romelias, und stellte ihm nach; und er schlug ihn und tötete ihn und ward König an seiner Statt, im zwanzigsten Jahre Joathams, des Sohnes Ozias.

Was aber sonst noch von Phakee zu sagen ist und alles, was er getan hat, steht das nicht geschrieben in den Jahrbüchern der Könige von Israel?

Jotham regiert in Juda

(2. Chronik 27,1-9)

Im zweiten Jahre Phakees, des Sohnes Romelias, des Königs von Israel, ward Joatham König, der Sohn Ozias, des Königs von Juda.

Fünfundzwanzig Jahre war er alt, als er zu herrschen begann, und herrschte sechzehn Jahre in Jerusalem; der Name seiner Mutter war Jerusa, eine Tochter Sadoks.

Er tat, was vor dem Herrn wohlgefällig war; in allem handelte er, wie Ozias, sein Vater, getan.

Doch schaffte er die Höhen nicht ab, denn das Volk opferte noch und zündete Räucherwerk auf den Höhen an; er baute das obere Tor am Hause des Herrn.

was aber sonst noch von Joatham zu sagen ist und alles, was er getan hat, ist das nicht in den Jahrbüchern der Könige von Juda beschrieben?

In jenen Tagen begann der Herr Rasin, den König von Syrien und Phakee, den Sohn Romelias, gegen Juda zu senden.

Und Joatham entschlief zu seinen Vätern und ward bei ihnen in der Stadt Davids seines Vaters begraben, sein Sohn Achaz ward König an seiner Statt.
