- Kapitel 24 -

The earth is the Lord's

1
For the First Sabbath. A Psalm of David. The earth and all its fullness belong to the Lord: the whole world and all that dwells in it.(a)
2
For he has founded it upon the seas, and he has prepared it upon the rivers.
3
Who will ascend to the mountain of the Lord? And who will stand in his holy place?
4
The innocent of hands and the clean of heart, who has not received his soul in vain, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbor.
5
He will receive a blessing from the Lord, and mercy from God, his Savior.
6
This is the generation that seeks him, that seeks the face of the God of Jacob.
7
Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. And the King of Glory shall enter.
8
Who is this King of Glory? The Lord who is strong and powerful; the Lord powerful in battle.
9
Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. And the King of Glory shall enter.
10
Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of virtue. He himself is the King of Glory.

(a)23:1 There are two First Sabbaths. The first of the First Sabbaths is the Sabbath during the Feast of Passover. After that Sabbath, the counting of the Feast of Weeks begins with the very next day. The first week in the counting of the Feast of Weeks ends with the second First Sabbath, that is, the First Sabbath in the count of Seven Sabbaths leading up to the Feast of Weeks. Because there was no clear concept of a number zero (which would, in modern counting be the first Sabbath of Passover), there must be two first Sabbaths.(Conte)

Die Erde ist des HERRN

Am ersten Tage der Woche, ein Psalm Davids. Dem Herrn gehört die Erde und was sie erfüllt; der Erdkreis und alle, die auf demselben wohnen.

Denn er hat ihn auf die Meere gegründet und über Ströme ihn festgestellt.

Wer darf den Berg des Herrn betreten? Oder wer darf an seiner heiligen Stätte stehen?
4
Wer unschuldige Hände hat und reinen Herzens ist, wer seine Seele nicht an Eitles hängt und seinem Nächsten nicht trüglich schwört.
5
Dieser wird Segen von dem Herrn empfangen und Erbarmen von Gott, seinem Retter.
6
Dies ist das Geschlecht, das nach ihm verlangt, die das Angesicht des Gottes Jakobs suchen.
7
Erhöhet, ihr Fürsten, eure Tore, hoch wölbet euch, ihr ewigen Tore, und der König der Herrlichkeit wird einziehen.
8
Wer ist dieser König der Herrlichkeit? Der Herr, der Starke du Gewaltige, der Herr, mächtig im Streite.
9
Erhöhet, ihr Fürsten, eure Tore, hoch wölbet euch, ihr ewigen Tore, und der König der Herrlichkeit wird einziehen!

Wer ist dieser König der Herrlichkeit? Der Herr der Heerscharen ist der König der Herrlichkeit!
