- Kapitel 27 -

And Dauid said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: is it not better for me that I saue my selfe in the lande of the Philistims, and that Saul may haue no hope of me to seeke me any more in all the coastes of Israel, and so escape out of his hand?

Dauid therefore arose, and he, and the sixe hundreth men that were with him, went vnto Achish the sonne of Maoch King of Gath.

And Dauid dwelt with Achish at Gath, he, and his men, euery man with his housholde,Dauid with his two wiues, Ahinoam the Izreelite, and Abigail Nabals wife the Carmelite.

And it was tolde Saul that Dauid was fled to Gath: so he sought no more for him.

And Dauid saide vnto Achish, If I haue nowe founde peace in thine eyes, let them giue me a place in some other citie of the countrey, that I may dwell there: for why should thy seruant dwel in ye head citie of the kingdome with thee?

Then Achish gaue him Ziklag that same day: therefore Ziklag pertaineth vnto the kings of Iudah vnto this day.

And the time that Dauid dwelt in the countrey of the Philistims, was foure moneths and certaine dayes.

Then Dauid and his men went vp, and inuaded the Geshurites, and the Girzites, and the Amalekites: for they inhabited the lande from the beginning, from the way, as thou goest to Shur, euen vnto the lande of Egypt.

And Dauid smote the lande, and left neither man nor woman aliue, and tooke sheepe, and oxen, and asses, and camels, and apparell, and returned and came to Achish.

And Achish said, Where haue ye bene a rouing this day? And Dauid answered, Against the South of Iudah, and against the South of the Ierahmeelites, and against the South of ye Kenites.

And Dauid saued neither man nor woman aliue, to bring them to Gath, saying, Lest they should tel on vs, and say, So did Dauid, and so will be his maner all the while that he dwelleth in the countrey of the Philistims.

And Achish beleeued Dauid, saying, He hath made his people of Israel vtterly to abhorre him: therefore he shalbe my seruant for euer.

David verbündet sich mit den Philistern

Und David sprach in seinem Herzen: Ich werde doch eines Tages in die Hände Sauls fallen; ist es nicht besser, dass ich fliehe und im Lande der Philister Sicherheit finde, damit Saul es aufgibt und ablässt, auf mich in dem ganzen Gebiete von Israel zu fahnden? Ich will also seiner Hand entkommen.

So machte sich David denn auf und zog fort und die sechshundert Mann mit ihm, zu Achis, dem Sohne Maochs, dem Könige von Geth.

Und David blieb bei Achis in Geth mit seinen Leuten, ein jeder mit seiner Familie, und David mit seinen beiden Frauen, Achinoam, der Jezrahelitin, und Abigail, dem Weibe Nabals von Karmel.

Als nun Saul gemeldet ward, dass David nach Geth geflohen sei, suchte er ihn fortan nicht mehr.

David aber sprach zu Achis: Wenn ich in deinen Augen Gnade gefunden habe, so möge man mir einen Ort in einer der Städte dieses Landes geben, dass ich daselbst wohne; denn warum soll dein Diener bei dir in der Königsstadt bleiben?

Da gab ihm Achis an demselben Tage Sikeleg. Daher gehört Sikeleg bis auf diesen Tag den Königen von Juda.

Die Zahl der Tage aber, welche David im Lande der Philister wohnte, betrug vier Monate.

Und David zog mit seinen Leuten hin und sie machten Beute bei den Gessuritern und Gerzitern und Amalekitern; denn ihre Dörfer lagen vor alters in dem Lande am Wege nach Sur bis in das Land Ägypten.

Und David schlug das ganze Land und ließ weder Mann noch Weib am Leben und nahm Schafe und Rinder und Esel und Kamele und Kleider und kehrte zurück und kam zu Achis.

Da sprach Achis zu ihm: Über wen bist du heute hergefallen? David antwortete: Über das Südland von Juda und über den Süden von Jerameel und das südliche Gebiet von Keni.

Weder Mann noch Weib ließ David am Leben und brachte niemand nach Geth, denn er sprach: Sie könnten gegen uns sagen: Dies hat David getan, und daran hielt er fest, so lange er im Lande der Philister wohnte.

Achis also vertraute dem David, indem er sprach: Er hat seinem Volke Israel viel Böses getan, darum wird er auf immer mein Diener sein.
