- Kapitel 8 -

(1 Kings 9:10–28)

And after twentie yeere when Salomon had built the house of the Lord, and his owne house,

Then Salomon built the cities that Huram gaue to Salomon, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there.

And Salomon went to Hamath Zobah, and ouercame it.

And he built Tadmor in the wildernesse, and repayred all the cities of store which hee built in Hamath.

And he built Beth-horon the vpper, and Beth-horon the nether, cities defensed with walles, gates and barres:

Also Baalath, and al the cities of store that Salomon had, and all the charet cities, and the cities of the horsemen, and euery pleasant place that Salomon had a minde to builde in Ierusalem, and in Lebanon, and throughout all the lande of his dominion.

And all the people that were left to ye Hittites, and ye Amorites, and Perizzites, and the Hiuuites, and the Iebusites, which were not of Israel,

But of their children which were left after them in the lande, whome the children of Israel had not consumed, euen them did Salomon make tributaries vntill this day.

But of the children of Israel did Salomon make no seruantes for his worke: for they were men of warre, and his chiefe princes, and the captaines of his charets and of his horsemen.

So these were the chiefe of the officers which Salomon had, euen two hundreth and fiftie that bare rule ouer the people.

Then Salomon brought vp the daughter of Pharaoh out of the citie of Dauid, into the house that he had built for her: for he saide, My wife shall not dwel in the house of Dauid King of Israel: for it is holy, because that the Arke of the Lord came vnto it.

Then Salomon offered burnt offrings vnto the Lord, on the altar of the Lord, which he had built before the porche,

To offer according to the commandement of Moses euery day, in the Sabbaths, and in the newe moones, and in the solemne feastes, three times in the yeere, that is, in the feast of the Vnleauened bread, and in the feast of the Weekes, and in the feast of the Tabernacles.

And he set the courses of the Priestes to their offices, according to the order of Dauid his father, and the Leuites in their watches, for to praise and minister before the Priestes euery day, and the porters by their courses, at euery gate: for so was the commandement of Dauid the man of God.

And they declined not from the commandement of the King, concerning the Priests and the Leuites, touching al things, and touching the treasures.

Nowe Salomon had made prouision for all the worke, from the day of the foundation of the house of the Lord, vntill it was finished: so the house of the Lord was perfite.

Then went Salomon to Ezion-geber, and to Eloth by the sea side in the lande of Edom.

And Huram sent him by the handes of his seruants, shippes, and seruants that had knowledge of the sea: and they went with the seruants of Salomon to Ophir, and brought thence foure hundreth and fiftie talents of golde, and brought them to King Salomon.

Salomos weitere Errungenschaften

(1. Könige 9,10-28)

Nach Verlauf von zwanzig Jahren aber, in welchen Salomon das Haus des Herrn und sein eigenes Haus erbaut hatte,

baute er die Städte, welche Hiram dem Salomon gegeben hatte, und siedelte die Söhne Israels daselbst an.

Sodann zog er gegen Emath Suba und gewann es.

Und er baute Palmira in der Wüste und baute andere feste Städte in Emath.

Ferner erbaute er Ober-Bethoron und Unter-Bethoron, ummauerte Städte, die Tore und Riegel und Schlösser hatten;

ebenso Balaath und alle festen Städte, welche Salomon gehörten, und alle Städte für die Wagen und die Städte für die Reiter; alles, was Salomon wollte und gedachte, baute er in Jerusalem und auf dem Libanon und im ganzen Lande seiner Herrschaft.

Alles Volk, welches übrig geblieben war von den Hethitern und Amorrhitern und Pherezitern und Hevitern und Jebusitern, die nicht zum Stamme Israels gehörten,

die Söhne und Nachkommen derer, welche die Söhne Israels nicht getötet hatten, unterwarf Salomon dem Frondienst bis auf diesen Tag.

Von den Söhnen Israels aber ließ er keinen bei den Werken des Königs Frondienste leisten, denn sie waren Kriegsleute und die höchsten Führer und die Obersten über seine Wagen und Reiter.

Alle Obersten des Heeres des Königs Salomon waren zweihundertfünfzig, welche das Volk leiteten.

Und er führte die Tochter Pharaos aus der Davidsstadt in das Haus hinüber, das er für sie gebaut hatte, denn der König sprach: Mein Weib soll nicht im Hause Davids, des Königs von Israel, wohnen; denn dies ist geheiligt, weil die Lade des Herrn in dasselbe gekommen ist.

Hierauf brachte Salomon dem Herrn Brandopfer auf dem Altare des Herrn dar, welchen er vor der Halle errichtet hatte,

dass man Tag für Tag auf denselben Opfer darbrächte nach dem Befehle Moses, an den Sabbaten und den Neumonden und den Festtagen, dreimal im Jahre, das ist am Feste der ungesäuerten Brote, am Feste der Wochen und am Feste der Laubhütten.

Auch bestimmte er nach der Anordnung seines Vaters David die Dienstverrichtungen der Priester und die Leviten nach ihrer Ordnung, um Lob zu singen und Dienst zu tun, so wie jeder Tag es erheischt, und die Türhüter nach ihren Abteilungen an die einzelnen Tore; denn so hatte es David, der Mann Gottes, geboten.

Und man übertrat keines von allen Geboten des Königs, die er gegeben, weder die Priester, noch die Leviten, und beobachtete alles, was er für die Aufbewahrung der Schätze vorgeschrieben hatte.

Und Salomon hatte alle Kosten in Bereitschaft von dem Tag an, an dem er den Grund legte für das Haus des Herrn, bis zu dem Tage, da er es vollendete.

Darnach zog Salomon nach Asiongaber und nach Ailath an das Ufer des Roten Meeres, im Lande Edom.

Hiram aber sandte ihm durch seine Leute Schiffe und des Meeres kundige Seeleute; diese fuhren zusammen mit den Knechten Salomons nach Ophir und holten von dort vierhundertfünfzig Talente Goldes und brachten es dem Könige Salomon.
