- Kapitel 1 -

(2 Chronicles 36:22–23; Isaiah 45:1–25)

Nowe in the first yere of Cyrus King of Persia (that the worde of the Lord, spoken by the mouth of Ieremiah, might be accomplished) the Lord stirred vp the spirite of Cyrus King of Persia, and hee made a Proclamation thorowe all his Kingdome, and also by writing, saying,

Thus saith Cyrus King of Persia, The Lord God of heauen hath giuen me all the kingdomes of the earth, and he hath commanded me to builde him an house in Ierusalem, which is in Iudah.

Who is he among you of all his people with whome his God is? let him goe vp to Ierusalem which is in Iudah, and buylde the house of the Lord God of Israel: he is the God, which is in Ierusalem.

And euery one that remayneth in any place (where he soiourneth) let the men of his place relieue him with siluer and with golde, and with substance, and with cattel, and with a willing offring, for the house of God that is in Ierusalem.

Then the chiefe fathers of Iudah and Beniamin, and the Priests and Leuites rose vp, with al them whose spirit God had raysed to goe vp, to builde the house of the Lord which is in Ierusalem.

And all they that were about them, strengthened their handes with vessels of siluer, with golde, with substance and with cattell, and with precious thinges, besides all that was willingly offred.

Cyrus Restores the Holy Vessels

Also the King Cyrus brought forth the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of Ierusalem, and had put them in the house of his god.

Euen them did Cyrus King of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and counted them vnto Sheshbazzar the Prince of Iudah.

And this is the nomber of them, thirtie basins of golde, a thousand basins of siluer, nine and twentie kniues,

Thirtie boules of gold, and of siluer boules of the second sort, foure hundreth and tenne, and of other vessels, a thousand.

All the vessels of golde and siluer were fiue thousand and foure hundreth. Sheshbazzar brought vp all with them of the captiuitie that came vp from Babel to Ierusalem.

Ende der babylonischen Gefangenschaft

(2. Chronik 36,22-23; Jesaja 45,1-25)

Im ersten Jahre des Cyrus des Königs von Persien, erweckte der Herr, damit der Ausspruch des Herrn aus dem Munde des Jeremias erfüllt würde, den Geist des Cyrus, des Königs von Persien, das er einen Ruf ausgehen, wie auch durch Schrift durch sein ganzes Reich verkünden ließ:

Also spricht Cyrus, der König von Persien: Alle Reiche der Erde hat mir der Herr, der Gott des Himmels, gegeben und er hat mir geboten, ihm ein Haus in Jerusalem, das in Judäa liegt, zu bauen.

Wer unter euch gehört zu seinem ganzen Volke? Sein Gott sei mit ihm! Er ziehe hinauf nach Jerusalem, das in Judäa liegt, und baue das Haus des Herrn, des Gottes Israels. Dies ist der Gott, der in Jerusalem wohnt.

Und alle Männer, die noch übrig sind, sollen in allen Orten, wo sie immer wohnen, diesen von ihrem Orte mit Silber und Gold und Gut und Vieh unterstützen, außer dem, was sie freiwillig für den Tempel Gottes, der zu Jerusalem ist, darbringen.

Da machten sich die Familienhäupter von Juda und Benjamin und die Priester und Leviten auf und ein jeder, dessen Geist Gott erweckte hinaufzuziehen, um den Tempel des Herrn in Jerusalem zu bauen.

Und alle, rings um sie her, unterstützten sie mit silbernen und goldenen Gefäßen, mit Gut und Vieh und Gerätschaften, außer dem, was sie freiwillig gespendet hatten.

Auch gab der König Cyrus die Geräte des Tempels des Herrn heraus, welche Nabuchodonosor aus Jerusalem weggenommen und in den Tempel seines Gottes gebracht hatte.

Und Cyrus, der König von Persien, ließ sie durch Mithridates, den Sohn Gazabars, herausgeben und zählte sie Sassabasar, dem Fürsten Judas, vor.

Dies ist ihre Zahl: Dreißig goldene Schalen, tausend silberne Schalen, neunundzwanzig Messer, dreißig goldene Becher,

vierhundertzehn silberne Becher der andern Gattung und tausend andere Gefäße.

Die goldenen und silbernen Gerätschaften waren zusammen fünftausend vierhundert. Dies alles nahm Sassabar mit sich, samt deren, welche aus der Gefangenschaft von Babylon nach Jerusalem hinaufzogen.
