- Kapitel 45 -

Then Ioseph could not refraine him selfe before all that stoode by him, but hee cryed, Haue forth euery man from me. And there taryed not one with him, while Ioseph vttered himselfe vnto his brethren.

And hee wept and cried, so that the Egyptians heard: the house of Pharaoh heard also.

Then Ioseph sayde to his brethren, I am Ioseph: doeth my father yet liue? But his brethren coulde not answere him, for they were astonished at his presence.

Againe, Ioseph sayde to his brethren, Come neere, I pray you, to mee. And they came neere. And he sayde, I am Ioseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.

Nowe therefore be not sad, neither grieued with your selues, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you for your preseruation.

For nowe two yeeres of famine haue bene through ye land, and fiue yeeres are behind, wherein neither shalbe earing nor haruest.

Wherefore God sent me before you to preserue your posteritie in this land, and to saue you aliue by a great deliuerance.

Now the you sent not me hither, but God, who hath made mee a father vnto Pharaoh, and lorde of all his house, and ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

Joseph Sends for His Father

Haste you and go vp to my father, and tel him, Thus saieth thy sonne Ioseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come downe to me, tary not.

And thou shalt dwel in ye land of Goshen, and shalt be neere me, thou and thy children, and thy childrens children, and thy sheepe, and thy beastes, and all that thou hast.

Also I will nourish thee there (for yet remaine fiue yeeres of famine) lest thou perish through pouertie, thou and thy houshold, and all that thou hast.

And behold, your eyes doe see, and the eyes of my brother Beniamin, that my mouth speaketh to you.

Therefore tel my father of al mine honour in Egypt, and of all that ye haue seene, and make haste, and bring my father hither.

Then hee fell on his brother Beniamins necke, and wept, and Beniamin wept on his necke.

Moreouer, he kissed all his brethren, and wept vpon them: and afterwarde his brethren talked with him.

Pharaoh Invites Jacob to Egypt

And the tidinges came vnto Pharaohs house, so that they said, Iosephs brethre are come: and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his seruants.

Then Pharaoh said vnto Ioseph, Say to thy brethren, This doe ye, lade your beastes and depart, go to the land of Canaan,

And take your father, and your houshoulds, and come to me, and I wil giue you the best of the land of Egypt, and ye shall eate of the fat of the land.

And I commaund thee, Thus doe ye, take you charets out of the lande of Egypt for your children, and for your wiues, and bring your father and come.

Also regarde not your stuffe: for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.

And the children of Israel did so: and Ioseph gaue them charets according to the commandement of Pharaoh: hee gaue them vitaile also for the iourney.

He gaue them all, none except, change of raiment: but vnto Beniamin he gaue three hundreth pieces of siluer, and fiue sutes of raiment.

And vnto his father likewise hee sent ten hee asses laden with the best things of Egypt, and ten shee asses laden with wheate, and bread and meate for his father by the way.

So sent he his brethren away, and they departed: and he sayde vnto them, Fall not out by the way.

The Revival of Jacob

Then they went vp from Egypt, and came vnto the land of Canaan vnto Iaakob their father,

And tolde him, saying, Ioseph is yet aliue, and he also is gouernour ouer all the lande of Egypt, and Iaakobs heart failed: for he beleeued them not.

And they told him al the words of Ioseph, which he had said vnto the: but when he saw the charets, which Ioseph had sent to cary him, then the spirit of Iaakob their father reuiued.

And Israel said, I haue inough: Ioseph my sonne is yet aliue: I will go and see him yer I die.

Joseph offenbart sich seinen Brüdern

Da konnte Joseph nicht länger an sich halten vor allen, welche ihn umstanden, und gebot daher, dass alle hinausgehen sollten und kein Fremder zugegen wäre, wenn er sich seinen Brüdern zu erkennen gäbe.

Und er begann laut zu weinen, so dass die Ägypter und das ganze Haus Pharaos es hörten.

Dann sprach er zu seinen Brüdern: Ich bin Joseph; lebt mein Vater noch? Aber seine Brüder konnten nicht antworten; so großer Schrecken hatte sie erfasst.

Da sprach er freundlich zu ihnen: Tretet doch her zu mir! Und als sie näher getreten waren, sagte er: Ich bin Joseph, euer Bruder, den ihr nach Ägypten verkauft habt.

Fürchtet euch nicht und lasset es euch nicht schwer aufs Herz fallen, dass ihr mich in dieses Land verkauft habt; denn zu eurem Heile hat mich Gott euch voraus nach Ägypten gesandt.

Denn zwei Jahre ist es, dass der Hunger auf Erden begonnen hat, und noch stehen fünf Jahre bevor, in denen man weder wird pflügen noch ernten können.

So hat mich Gott voraus gesandt, dass ihr erhalten werdet auf Erden und Speise haben könntet, um zu leben.

Nicht durch euren Ratschluss, sondern nach Gottes Willen bin ich hierher gesandt, er hat mich gleichsam zum Vater Pharaos, und zum Herrn seines ganzen Hauses, und zum Gebieter über das ganze Land Ägypten gemacht.

Eilet, und ziehet hinauf zu meinem Vater, und saget ihm: Dieses lässt dir dein Sohn Joseph sagen: Gott hat mich zum Herrn über das ganze Land Ägypten gemacht; komme herab zu mir, säume nicht!

Du sollst im Lande Gessen deinen Wohnsitz nehmen und mir nahe sein, du, und deine Söhne, und die Söhne deiner Söhne, deine Schafe und deine Herden, und alles, was du besitzest.

Daselbst will ich dich erhalten (denn es sind noch fünf Hungersjahre übrig), damit du nicht umkommest, noch dein Haus, noch alles, was du besitzest.

Sehet, eure Augen und die Augen meines Bruders Benjamin sehen, dass mein Mund zu euch redet.

Verkündet meinem Vater alle meine Herrlichkeit, und alles, was ihr in Ägypten gesehen habt; eilet und bringet ihn zu mir her.

Hierauf umarmte er seinen Bruder Benjamin, und fiel ihm um den Hals, und weinte, und auch jener weinte gleicherweise an seinem Halse.

Und Joseph küsste alle seine Brüder und weinte über einen jeden, und dann erst wagten sie zu ihm zu reden.

Und es wurde bekannt und es ging die Kunde am Hofe des Königs von Mund zu Mund: Die Brüder Josephs sind gekommen! Und Pharao freute sich darüber und sein ganzes Haus.

Und er sprach zu Joseph, er sollte seinen Brüdern gebieten: Beladet eure Tiere, und ziehet hin in das Land Chanaan,

und holet euren Vater, und eure Verwandtschaft von dort, und kommet her zu mir; und ich will euch alle Güter Ägyptens geben, dass ihr von dem Besten des Landes esset.

Befiehl auch, sie sollen Wagen mitnehmen aus dem Lande Ägypten, um ihre kleinen Kinder und ihre Frauen darauf zu setzen, und sage: Nehmet euren Vater und eilet so schnell wie möglich herzukommen!

Sendet auch nichts von eurem Hausrate herab, denn alle Reichtümer Ägyptens sollen euer sein.

Da taten die Söhne Israels, wie ihnen geboten war. Joseph gab ihnen Wagen, nach dem Befehle Pharaos, und Zehrung auf die Reise;

und ließ er einem jeden zwei Ehrenkleider bringen; dem Benjamin aber gab er dreihundert Silberlinge und fünf der besten Ehrenkleider.

Und eben so viel Geld und Kleider sandte er seinem Vater, und fügte noch zehn Esel hinzu, beladen mit den kostbarsten Gaben Ägyptens, und ebensoviele Eselinnen, welche Getreide und Reisezehrung trugen.

So entließ er seine Brüder und sprach zu ihnen, da sie hinzogen: Zanket nicht auf dem Wege!

Und sie zogen fort aus Ägypten und kamen in das Land Chanaan zu Jakob, ihrem Vater.

Da erzählten sie ihm und sprachen: Joseph, dein Sohn, ist noch am Leben, und er gebietet über das ganze Land Ägypten. Da Jakob das hörte, war es, als erwache er aus einem schweren Schlafe, doch glaubte er ihnen nicht.

Als sie ihm aber alles der Ordnung nach erzählten, und er die Wagen und alles sah, was Joseph gesandt hatte, lebte sein Geist wieder auf,

und er sprach: Genug ist es mir, wenn mein Sohn Joseph noch lebt; ich will hinziehen und ihn sehen, bevor ich sterbe.
