- Kapitel 8 -

Bildad: Let Job repent

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and saide,

Howe long wilt thou talke of these things? and howe long shall the wordes of thy mouth be as a mightie winde?

Doeth God peruert iudgement? or doeth the Almightie subuert iustice?

If thy sonnes haue sinned against him, and he hath sent them into the place of their iniquitie,

Yet if thou wilt early seeke vnto God, and pray to the Almightie,

If thou be pure and vpright, then surely hee will awake vp vnto thee, and he wil make the habitation of thy righteousnesse prosperous.

And though thy beginning be small, yet thy latter ende shall greatly encrease.

Inquire therefore, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thy selfe to search of their fathers.

(For we are but of yesterday, and are ignorant: for our dayes vpon earth are but a shadowe)

Shall not they teach thee and tell thee, and vtter the wordes of their heart?

Can a rush grow without myre? or can ye grasse growe without water?

Though it were in greene and not cutte downe, yet shall it wither before any other herbe.

So are the paths of al that forget God, and the hypocrites hope shall perish.

His confidence also shalbe cut off, and his trust shalbe as the house of a spyder.

He shall leane vpon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall holde him fast by it, yet shall it not endure.

The tree is greene before the sunne, and the branches spread ouer the garden thereof.

The rootes thereof are wrapped about the fountaine, and are folden about ye house of stones.

If any plucke it from his place, and it denie, saying, I haue not seene thee,

Beholde, it will reioyce by this meanes, that it may growe in another molde.

Behold, God will not cast away an vpright man, neither will he take the wicked by the hand,

Till he haue filled thy mouth with laughter, and thy lippes with ioy.

They that hate thee, shall be clothed with shame, and the dwelling of the wicked shall not remaine.

Bildad: Hiob soll Buße tun

Da antwortete der Suhiter Baldad und sprach:

Wie lange wirst du solches reden und werden die Reden deines Mundes wie ein heftiger Wind sein?

Beugt etwa Gott das Recht oder stößt der Allmächtige um, was Recht ist?

Wenn auch deine Kinder sich gegen ihn versündigt haben und er sie der Gewalt ihrer Missetat überlassen hat,

wenn du indes dich früh zu Gott aufmachst und zu dem Allmächtigen flehst,

wenn du lauter und recht wandelst, so wird er alsbald über dich wachen und der Wohnung deiner Gerechtigkeit Frieden verleihen;

so wird, wenn auch dein Anfang klein gewesen, dein Nachmaliges überaus groß werden.

Denn befrage nur das frühere Geschlecht und forsche fleißig im Andenken der Väter.

(Wir sind ja von gestern und wissen nichts, weil unsere Tage auf Erden wie ein Schatten sind.)

Sie werden dich lehren und zu dir reden und Sinnsprüche aus ihrem Herzen bringen.

Kann denn die Binse grünen ohne Feuchtigkeit oder das Riedgras wachsen ohne Wasser?

Wenn es noch in Blüte steht und noch nicht von einer Hand gebrochen ist, verdorrt es vor allen Gräsern;

so sind die Wege aller, die Gottes vergessen, und die Hoffnung des Heuchlers geht zugrunde.

Nicht frommt ihm seine törichte Hoffnung und einem Spinnengewebe ist sein Vertrauen gleich.

Er baut auf sein Haus und es hält nicht stand, er stützt es und es will nicht aufrecht bleiben.

Er scheint saftig, ehe die Sonne kommt, und wenn sie aufgegangen ist, breiten sich seine Zweige aus;

über den Felsen hin verflechten sich seine Wurzeln und zwischen steinigem Grunde weilt er.

Aber reißt er ihn von seiner Stätte, so verleugnet diese ihn und spricht: Ich kenne dich nicht!

Denn dies ist die Freude seines Weges, dass aus der Erde wieder andere sprossen.

Gott verwirft nicht den Aufrichtigen und reicht den Bösen nicht die Hand,

bis dein Mund mit Lachen erfüllt wird und deine Lippen mit Jubel.

Die dich hassen, werden mit Schande bedeckt werden und der Gottlosen Zelt wird verschwinden.
