- Kapitel 20 -

For the kingdome of heauen is like vnto a certaine, housholder, which went out at the dawning of the day to hire labourers into his vineyarde.

And he agreed with the labourers for a peny a day, and sent them into his vineyard.

And he went out about the third houre, and sawe other standing idle in the market place,

And sayd vnto them, Goe ye also into my vineyard, and whatsoeuer is right, I will giue you: and they went their way.

Againe he went out about the sixt and ninth houre, and did likewise.

And he went about the eleuenth houre, and found other standing idle, and sayd vnto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

They sayd vnto him, Because no man hath hired vs. He sayd to them, Goe ye also into my vineyard, and whatsoeuer is right, that shall ye receiue.

And when euen was come, the master of the vineyard sayd vnto his steward, Call the labourers, and giue them their hire, beginning at the last, till thou come to the first.

And they which were hired about ye eleuenth houre, came and receiued euery man a penie.

Nowe when the first came, they supposed that they should receiue more, but they likewise receiued euery man a penie.

And when they had receiued it, they murmured against the master of the house,

Saying, These last haue wrought but one houre, and thou hast made them equall vnto vs, which haue borne the burden and heate of the day.

And hee answered one of them, saying, Friend, I doe thee no wrong: didst thou not agree with me for a penie?

Take that which is thine owne, and go thy way: I will giue vnto this last, as much as to thee.

Is it not lawfull for me to do as I will with mine owne? Is thine eye euil, because I am good?

So the last shalbe first, and the first last: for many are called, but fewe chosen.

The Third Prediction of the Passion

(Mark 10:32–34; Luke 18:31–34)

And Iesus went vp to Hierusalem, and tooke the twelue disciples apart in the way, and said vnto them,

Beholde, wee goe vp to Hierusalem, and the Sonne of man shall bee deliuered vnto the chiefe priestes, and vnto the Scribes, and they shall condemne him to death,

And shall deliuer him to the Gentiles, to mocke, and to scourge, and to crucifie him, but the third day he shall rise againe.

A Mother’s Request

(Mark 10:35–45)

Then came to him the mother of Zebedeus children with her sonnes, worshipping him, and desiring a certaine thing of him.

And he said vnto her, What wouldest thou? She said to him, Graunt that these my two sonnes may sit, the one at thy right hand, and the other at thy left hand in thy kingdome.

And Iesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye aske. Are ye able to drinke of the cup that I shall drinke of, and to be baptized with the baptisme that I shalbe baptized with? They said to him, We are able.

And he said vnto them, Ye shall drinke in deede of my cup, and shall be baptized with the baptisme, that I am baptized with, but to sit at my right hande, and at my left hand, is not mine to giue: but it shalbe giuen to them for whome it is prepared of my Father.

And when the other ten heard this, they disdained at the two brethren.

Therefore Iesus called them vnto him, and saide, We knowe that the lordes of the Gentiles haue domination ouer them, and they that are great, exercise authoritie ouer them.

But it shall not be so among you: but whosoeuer will be great among you, let him be your seruant.

And whosoeuer will be chiefe among you, let him be your seruant.

Euen as the Sonne of man came not to be serued, but to serue, and to giue his life for the ransome of many.

The Blind Men by the Road

(Mark 10:46–52; Luke 18:35–43)

And as they departed from Iericho, a great multitude followed him.

And beholde, two blinde men, sitting by the way side, when they heard that Iesus passed by, cryed, saying, O Lord, the Sonne of Dauid, haue mercie on vs.

And the multitude rebuked them, because they should holde their peace: but they cried the more, saying, O Lord, the Sonne of Dauid, haue mercie on vs.

Then Iesus stoode still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I should do to you?

They saide to him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

And Iesus mooued with compassion, touched their eyes, and immediatly their eyes receiued sight, and they followed him.

Das Gleichnis von den Arbeitern im Weinberg

Das Himmelreich ist gleich einem Hausvater, der am frühen Morgen ausging, um Arbeiter in seinen Weinberg zu dingen.

Nachdem er nun mit den Arbeitern um einen Denar: für den Tag übereingekommen war, sandte er sie in seinen Weinberg.

Und als er um die dritte Stunde ausging, sah er andere auf dem Markte müßig stehen,

und sprach zu ihnen: Gehet auch ihr in meinen Weinberg, und was recht ist, werde ich euch geben.

Sie aber gingen hin. Abermals ging er um die sechste und neunte Stunde aus, und tat ebenso.

Um die elfte Stunde aber ging er aus, und fand andere stehen, und sprach zu ihnen: Was stehet ihr hier den ganzen Tag müßig?

Sie antworteten ihm: Weil uns niemand gedungen hat. Da sprach er zu ihnen: gehet auch ihr in meinen Weinberg.

Als es nun Abend geworden, sagte der Herr des Weinberges zu seinem Verwalter: Rufe die Arbeiter, und gib ihnen den Lohn, von den letzten anfangend, bis zu den ersten.

Da nun die kamen, welche um die elfte Stunde eingetreten waren, empfingen sie jeder einen Denar.

Wie aber auch die ersten kamen, meinten sie, dass sie mehr empfangen würden, aber auch sie empfingen jeder einen Denar.

Und da sie ihn empfingen, murrten sie wider den Hausvater,

und sprachen: Diese letzten haben eine einzige Stunde gearbeitet, und du hast sie uns gleich gehalten, die wir die Last und Hitze des Tages getragen haben.

Er aber antwortete einem aus ihnen, und sprach: Freund! Ich tue dir nicht Unrecht; bist du nicht auf einen Denar mit mir eins geworden?

Nimm, was dein ist, und gehe hin; ich will aber auch diesem letzten geben, wie dir.

Oder ist es mir nicht erlaubt zu tun, was ich will? Ist etwa dein Auge darum böse, weil ich gut bin?

So werden die Letzten die Ersten, und die Ersten die Letzten sein; denn viele sind berufen, aber wenige auserwählt!

Jesus sagt ein drittes Mal seinen Tod und seine Auferstehung voraus

(Markus 10,32-34; Lukas 18,31-34)

Als nun Jesus nach Jerusalem hinaufzog, nahm er die zwölf Jünger zu sich beiseits, und sprach zu ihnen:

Sehet, wir gehen hinauf nach Jerusalem, und der Menschensohn wird den Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten übergeben werden, und sie werden ihn zum Tode verurteilen,

und werden ihn den Heiden überliefern zur Verhöhnung und Geißelung und Kreuzigung, und am dritten Tage wird er auferstehen.

Größe ist Dienen

(Markus 10,35-45)

Da trat die Mutter der Söhne des Zebedäus mit ihren Söhnen zu ihm, vor ihm niederfallend, und ihn um etwas bittend.

Er aber sprach zu ihr: Was willst du? Sie antwortete ihm: Sprich, dass diese meine zwei Söhne in deinem Reiche, einer zu deiner Rechten, und der andere zu deiner Linken, sitzen sollen!

Jesus aber antwortete, und sprach: Ihr wisset nicht, um was ihr bittet. Könnet ihr den Kelch trinken, welchen ich trinken werde? Sie sprachen zu ihm: Wir können es.

Da sprach er zu ihnen: Meinen Kelch zwar werdet ihr trinken; das Sitzen aber zu meiner Rechten oder Linken steht nicht bei mir euch zu geben, sondern denen, welchen es bereitet ist von meinem Vater.

Als das die zehn hörten, wurden sie unwillig über die zwei Brüder.

Jesus aber rief sie zu sich, und sprach: Ihr wisset, dass die Fürsten der Völker über dieselben herrschen, und die Großen Gewalt über sie ausüben.

Nicht so wird es unter euch sein; sondern wer immer unter euch ein Großer werden will, der sei euer Diener;

und wer unter euch der Erste sein will, sei euer Knecht;

gleichwie des Menschen Sohn nicht gekommen ist, bedient zu werden, sondern zu dienen, und sein Leben als Lösegeld für viele hinzugeben.

Zwei blinde Männer erhalten ihr Augenlicht

(Markus 10,46-52; Lukas 18,35-43)

Als sie nun von Jericho weggingen, folgte ihm viel Volk;

und siehe, zwei Blinde, die am Wege saßen, hörten, dass Jesus vorüberkomme; und sie riefen laut, und sprachen: Herr, erbarme dich unser, du Sohn Davids!

Das Volk aber fuhr sie an, dass sie schweigen sollten. Sie aber schrieen noch lauter, und sprachen: Herr, erbarme dich unser, du Sohn Davids!

Und Jesus stand still, rief sie zu sich, und sprach: Was wollt ihr, dass ich euch tue?

Sie sprachen zu ihm: Herr! Dass unsere Augen geöffnet werden.

Jesus aber erbarmte sich über sie, und berührte ihre Augen, und sogleich sahen sie, und folgten ihm nach.
