- Kapitel 60 -

Victory with God

(2 Samuel 8:1-14; 1 Chronicles 18:1-13; Psalm 108:1-13)

To him that excelleth upon Shushan Eduth, or Michtam. A Psalme of David to teach. When he fought against Aram Naharaim, and against Aram Zobah, when Joab returned and slew twelve thousand Edomites in the salt valley. O God, thou hast cast vs out, thou hast scattered vs, thou hast bene angry, turne againe vnto vs.

Thou hast made the land to tremble, and hast made it to gape: heale the breaches thereof, for it is shaken.
3
Thou hast shewed thy people heauy things: thou hast made vs to drinke the wine of giddines.
4
But now thou hast giuen a banner to them that feare thee, that it may be displayed because of thy trueth. Selah.
5
That thy beloued may be deliuered, helpe with thy right hand and heare me.
6
God hath spoken in his holines: therefore I will reioyce: I shall deuide Shechem, and measure the valley of Succoth.
7
Gilead shalbe mine, and Manasseh shalbe mine: Ephraim also shalbe the strength of mine head: Iudah is my lawgiuer.
8
Moab shalbe my wash pot: ouer Edom will I cast out my shoe: Palestina shew thy selfe ioyfull for me.
9
Who will leade me into the strong citie? who will bring me vnto Edom?
10
Wilt not thou, O God, which hadest cast vs off, and didest not go forth, O God, with our armies?
11
Giue vs helpe against trouble: for vaine is the helpe of man.
12
Through God we shall doe valiantly: for he shall tread downe our enemies.

als er das syrische Mesopotamien und Sobal verheert hatte und Joab umkehrte und im Salztale zwölftausend Edomiter erschlug.

O Gott! du hast und verstoßen und zerrüttet, du zürntest, doch du wirst dich wieder unser erbarmen.
4
Du hast das Land bewegt und es erschüttert; heile seine Brüche, denn es wankt.
5
Du hast dein Volk Hartes erfahren lassen, hast uns mit Schmerzenswein getränkt.
6
Doch denen, die dich fürchten, gabst du ein Panier, vor dem Bogen zu flüchten, auf dass deine Geliebten gerettet werden.
7
Hilf nun mit deiner Rechten und erhöre mich!

Gott hat verheißen in seiner Heiligkeit: Jauchzen werde ich, austeilen Sichem und vermessen das Tal der Gezelte.
9
Mein ist Galaad und mein ist Manasse und Ephraim ist die Schutzwehr meines Hauptes, Juda mein König,
10
Moab der Topf meiner Hoffnung, über Edom strecke ich meinen Schuh, mir sind die Fremdlinge untertan.
11
Wer führt mich in die feste Stadt? wer geleitet mich bis nach Edom?
12
Nicht du, o Gott! der uns verstoßen, und wirst du nicht, o Gott! mit unsern Heeren ausziehen?
13
Schaffe uns Hilfe, Herr! in der Not, denn Menschenhilfe ist nichtig.
14
Mit Gott wollen wir große Taten vollbringen und er wird unsere Bedränger zunichte machen!
