- Kapitel 12 -

And there appeared a great wonder in heauen: A woman clothed with the sunne, and the moone was vnder her feete, and vpon her head a crowne of twelue starres.

And she was with childe, and cried traueiling in birth, and was pained readie to be deliuered.

And there appeared another wonder in heaue: for beholde, a great red dragon hauing seuen heads, and ten hornes, and seuen crownes vpon his heads:

And his taile drew the thirde part of the starres of heauen, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman, which was ready to be deliuered, to deuoure her childe, when shee had brought it foorth.

So shee brought foorth a man childe, which should rule all nations with a rod of yron: and that her childe was taken vp vnto God and to his throne.

And the woman fled into wildernes where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feede her there a thousande, two hundreth and three score dayes.

The War in Heaven

And there was a battell in heauen, Michael and his Angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels.

But they preuailed not, neither was their place found any more in heauen.

And the great dragon, that olde serpent, called the deuil and Satan, was cast out, which deceiueth all the world: he was euen cast into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Then I heard a loude voyce in heauen, saying, Now is saluation, and strength, and the kingdome of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast downe, which accused them before our God day and night.

But they ouercame him by that blood of that Lambe, and by that worde of their testimonie, and they loued not their liues vnto the death.

Therefore reioyce, ye heauens, and ye that dwell in them. Wo to the inhabitants of the earth, and of the sea: for the deuill is come downe vnto you, which hath great wrath, knowing that he hath but a short time.

The Woman Persecuted

And when the dragon sawe that hee was cast vnto the earth, he persecuted the woman which had brought forth the man childe.

But to the woman were giuen two wings of a great eagle, that she might flie into the wildernes, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and halfe a time, from the presence of the serpent.

And the serpent cast out of his mouth water after the woman, like a flood, that he might cause her to be caried away of the flood.

But the earth holpe the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swalowed vp the flood, which the dragon had cast out of his mouth.

Then the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went and made warre with the remnant of her seede, which keepe the comaundements of God, and haue the testimonie of Iesus Christ.

And I stood on the sea sand.

Die Frau, das Kind und der Drache

Und es erschien ein großes Zeichen im Himmel: Ein Weib mit der Sonne bekleidet, den Mond unter ihren Füßen, und auf ihrem Haupte eine Krone von zwölf Sternen.

Und sie war gesegneten Leibes, und rief in Geburtswehen, und hatte große Pein, um zu gebären.

Und es erschien ein anderes Zeichen im Himmel; siehe, ein großer, feuerroter Drache mit sieben Köpfen und zehn Hörnern, und auf seinen Köpfen sieben Diademe;

und sein Schweif riss den dritten Teil der Sterne des Himmels herab und warf sie zur Erde. Und der Drache trat vor das Weib, das im Begriffe war zu gebären, um, wenn sie geboren hätte, ihr Kind zu verschlingen.

Und sie gebar einen Sohn, einen mannhaften, der alle Völker mit eisernem Stabe beherrschen soll. Und ihr Sohn ward entrückt zu Gott und zu seinem Throne.

das Weib aber floh in die Wüste, wo sie eine von Gott bereitete Stätte hatte, dass sie daselbst tausendzweihunderundsechzig Tage ernährt würde.

Der Satan wird aus dem Himmel geworfen

Und es erhob sich ein großer Kampf im Himmel: Michael und seine Engel kämpften mit dem Drachen, und der Drache und seine Engel stritten,

aber sie obsiegten nicht, und keine Stätte ward mehr für sie gefunden im Himmel.

Und jener große Drache ward hinabgeworfen, die alte Schlange, welcher Teufel genannt wird und Satan, welcher die ganze Welt verführt; er ward hinabgeworfen auf die Erde, und seine Engel wurden mit ihm hinabgeworfen.

Da hörte ich eine starke Stimme im Himmel rufen: Jetzt ist das Heil und die Kraft, und das Reich unserem Gotte geworden, und die Macht seinem Gesalbten; denn hinabgeworfen ist der Ankläger unserer Brüder, der sie vor unserm Gott verklagte Tag und Nacht.

Und sie haben ihn besiegt um des Blutes des Lammes willen, und um des Wortes ihres Zeugnisses willen, und haben ihre Seelen nicht geliebt bis zum Tode.

Darum freuet euch, ihr Himmel, und die ihr darin wohnet! Wehe der Erde und dem Meere; denn der Teufel ist zu euch hinabgestiegen mit großem Grimme, da er weiß, dass er eine kurze Frist hat!

Die verfolgte Frau

Und als der Drache sah, dass er auf die Erde herabgeworfen war, verfolgte er das Weib, welches den Knaben geboren hatte.

Da wurden dem Weibe die zwei Flügel des großen Adlers gegeben, dass sie in die Wüste fliege an ihren Ort, wo sie genährt wird durch eine Zeit und zwei Zeiten und eine halbe Zeit, geborgen vor der Schlange.

Die Schlange aber schoss aus ihrem Rachen hinter dem Weibe her Wasser wie einen Strom, dass sie von dem Strome fortgerissen würde.

Doch die Erde half dem Weibe, denn sie tat ihren Mund auf und verschlang den Strom, den der Drache aus seinem Rachen geschossen hatte.

Da ward der Drache zornig über das Weib, und ging hin Krieg zu führen mit den übrigen ihres Samens, welche die Gebote Gottes halten und das Zeugnis Jesu Christi haben.

Und er stellte sich auf den Sand des Meeres.
