- Kapitel 12 -

(Genesis 26:1–5; Acts 7:1–8)

And YHWH says to Abram, “Go for yourself, from your land, and from your family, and from the house of your father, to the land which I show you.
2
And I make you become a great nation, and bless you, and make your name great; and be a blessing.
3
And I bless those blessing you, and I curse him who is cursing you, and all families of the ground have been blessed in you.”
4
And Abram goes on, as YHWH has spoken to him, and Lot goes with him, and Abram [is] a son of seventy-five years in his going out from Haran.
5
And Abram takes his wife Sarai, and his brother’s son Lot, and all their substance that they have gained, and the persons that they have obtained in Haran; and they go out to go toward the land of Canaan; and they come to the land of Canaan.
6
And Abram passes over into the land, to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh; and the Canaanite [is] then in the land.
7
And YHWH appears to Abram and says, “To your seed I give this land”; and there he builds an altar to YHWH, who has appeared to him.
8
And he removes from there toward a mountain at the east of Beth-El, and stretches out the tent (Beth-El at the west, and Hai at the east), and he builds an altar to YHWH there, and preaches in the Name of YHWH.

And Abram journeys, going on and journeying toward the south.

Abram and Sarai in Egypt

And there is a famine in the land, and Abram goes down toward Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine [is] grievous in the land;
11
and it comes to pass as he has drawn near to enter Egypt, that he says to his wife Sarai, “Now behold, I have known that you [are] a woman of beautiful appearance;
12
and it has come to pass that the Egyptians see you, and they have said, This [is] his wife; and they have slain me, and you they keep alive:
13
please say you [are] my sister, so that it is well with me because of you, and my soul has lived for your sake.”
14
And it comes to pass, at the entering of Abram into Egypt, that the Egyptians see the woman that she [is] exceedingly beautiful;
15
and princes of Pharaoh see her, and praise her to Pharaoh, and the woman is taken [to] Pharaoh’s house;
16
and to Abram he has done good because of her, and he has sheep and oxen, and male donkeys, and menservants, and handmaids, and female donkeys, and camels.
17
And YHWH plagues Pharaoh and his house—great plagues—for the matter of Sarai, Abram’s wife.
18
And Pharaoh calls for Abram and says, “What [is] this you have done to me? Why have you not declared to me that she [is] your wife?
19
Why have you said, She [is] my sister, and I take her to myself for a wife? And now, behold, your wife, take and go.”
20
And Pharaoh charges men concerning him, and they send him away, and his wife, and all that he has.

Verheißungen an Abram

(1. Mose 26,1-5; Apostelgeschichte 7,1-8)

Es sprach aber der Herr zu Abram: Ziehe hinweg aus deinem Lande, und von deiner Verwandtschaft, und aus dem Hause deines Vaters, und komme in das Land, welches ich dir zeigen werde.
2
Und ich will dich zu einem großen Volke machen, und dich segnen, und will deinen Namen groß machen, und du wirst gesegnet sein.
3
Ich will die segnen, welche dich segnen, und denen fluchen, die dir fluchen, und in dir sollen alle Geschlechter der Erde gesegnet werden.
4
Da zog Abram hinweg, wie ihm der Herr befohlen hatte, und Lot ging mit ihm; fünfundsiebzig Jahre war Abram alt, als er aus Haran auszog.
5
Und er nahm Sarai, sein Weib, und Lot, seines Bruders Sohn, und alle ihre Habe, die sie besaßen, und die Seelen, die sie sich in Haran erworben hatten; und sie zogen aus, um in das Land Chanaan zu gehen. Und als sie in dasselbe kamen,

durchzog Abram das Land bis zum Orte Sichem, bis zum berühmten Tale; es waren aber damals die Chanaaniter im Lande.
7
Da erschien der Herr dem Abram, und sprach zu ihm: Deinen Nachkommen will ich dies Land geben. Er aber baute dem Herrn, der ihm erschienen war, daselbst einen Altar.
8
Von da zog er weiter zu dem Gebirge, welches morgenwärts von Bethel lag, und schlug daselbst sein Zelt auf, so dass er Bethel gegen Abend und Hai gegen Morgen hatte, und er baute allda dem Herrn einen Altar und rief seinen Namen an.

Hierauf zog Abram weiter und kam immer mehr nach Mittag zu.

Abram in Ägypten

Es entstand aber eine Hungersnot im Lande, und Abram zog nach Ägypten hinab, um daselbst eine Zeitlang zu weilen; denn die Hungersnot hatte im Lande überhandgenommen.
11
Als er nun nahe daran war, Ägypten zu betreten, sprach er zu Sarai, seinem Weibe: Ich weiß, dass du ein schönes Weib bist,
12
und dass die Ägypter, wenn sie dich sehen, sagen werden: Sie ist sein Weib; und sie werden mich töten, dich aber leben lassen.
13
So sage also, ich bitte dich, du seiest meine Schwester, damit es mir um deinetwillen wohlgehe, und ich deinethalben am Leben bleibe.
14
Als nun Abram nach Ägypten gekommen war, sahen die Ägypter, dass das Weib überaus schön war.
15
Und die Fürsten zeigten es dem Pharao an und priesen sie vor ihm; da ward das Weib weggeführt in das Haus des Pharao.
16
Dem Abram aber taten sie Gutes um ihretwillen; und es wurden ihm Schafe, und Rinder, und Esel, und Knechte und Mägde, und Eselinnen und Kamele zu Teil.
17
Der Herr aber schlug Pharao und sein Haus mit schweren Plagen, wegen Sarai, des Weibes Abrams.
18
Da rief Pharao Abram, und sprach zu ihm: Was soll das, was du mir angetan? Warum hast du es nicht kund getan, das sie dein Weib ist?
19
Warum sagtest du, sie sei deine Schwester, so dass ich sie mir zum Weibe nahm? Nun aber, da ist dein Weib, nimm sie und gehe hin!
20
Und Pharao erteilte einigen Männern Befehle betreffs Abrams, und diese geleiteten ihn, und sein Weib, und alles, was er hatte.
