- Kapitel 97 -

Let the earth rejoice

1
Yahweh is the king! I want everyone on the earth to be glad and the people who live on the islands in the oceans to also rejoice about that!
2
There are very dark clouds around him; he rules completely, justly, and fairly.
3
He sends fire in front of him, and he completely burns all his enemies in that fire.
4
All around the world he sends lightning to flash; people on the earth see it, and it causes them to be afraid and to tremble.
5
The mountains melt like wax in front of Yahweh, in front of the one who is the Lord, who rules over all the earth.
6
The angels in heaven proclaim that he acts righteously, and all the people groups see his glory.
7
Everyone who worships idols should be ashamed; all those who are proud of their false gods should realize that their gods are useless. All those gods will bow down to worship Yahweh.
8
The people of Jerusalem heard that God is just, and they rejoiced; people in the other cities in Judah also rejoiced because Yahweh judges and punishes wicked people.
9
Yahweh is the supreme King over all the earth; he has very great power, and none of the other gods has any power.
10
Yahweh loves those who hate what people do that is evil; he protects the lives of his people, and he rescues them when the wicked people try to harm them.
11
He makes the righteous people truly live; he causes those who are righteous in their inner beings to rejoice.
12
You righteous people, rejoice about what Yahweh has done, and thank him, our holy God!

Die Erde soll sich freuen

Psalm Davids, als sein Land geordnet war. Der Herr ist König, es frohlocke die Erde, es freue sich der Inseln Zahl!

Gewölk und Dunkel ist um ihn her, Recht und Gerechtigkeit sind die Grundlagen seines Thrones.
3
Feuer geht vor ihm her und verzehrt seine Feinde ringsum.
4
Seine Blitze leuchten über den Erdkreis hin, die Erde sieht es und zittert.
5
Berge zerfließen wie Wachs vor dem Angesichte des Herrn, die ganze Erde vor dem Angesichte des Herrn.
6
Die Himmel verkünden seine Gerechtigkeit und alle Völker schauen seine Herrlichkeit.
7
Zuschanden mögen alle werden, die Bilder anbeten und die sich ihrer Götzen rühmen. Betet ihn an, ihr alle seine Engel!
8
Es hört und freut sich Sion und die Töchter Judas frohlocken um deiner Gerichte willen, o Herr!
9
Denn du, Herr! bist der Höchste über die ganze Erde, hocherhaben bist du über alle Götter.
10
Die ihr den Herrn liebt, hasset das Böse! Der Herr bewahrt die Seelen seiner Heiligen, aus der Hand des Sünders rettet er sie.
11
Licht geht dem Gerechten auf und Freude denen, die aufrichtigen Herzens sind.
12
Freuet euch, ihr Gerechten, über den Herrn und preiset das Denkmal seiner Heiligkeit.
