- Kapitel 5 -

Bee yee therefore followers of God, as deare children,

And walke in loue, euen as Christ hath loued vs, and hath giuen himselfe for vs, to be an offering and a sacrifice of a sweete smellling sauour to God.

But fornication, and all vncleannesse, or couetousnesse, let it not be once named among you, as it becommeth Saintes,

Neither filthinesse, neither foolish talking, neither iesting, which are things not comely, but rather giuing of thankes.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, neither vncleane person, nor couetous person, which is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdome of Christ, and of God.

Let no man deceiue you with vaine wordes: for, for such thinges commeth the wrath of God vpon the children of disobedience.

Be not therefore companions with them.

Children of Light

For ye were once darkenesse, but are nowe light in the Lord: walke as children of light,

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in al goodnes, and righteousnes, and trueth)

Approuing that which is pleasing to the Lord.

And haue no fellowship with ye vnfruitfull works of darknes, but euen reproue them rather.

For it is shame euen to speake of the things which are done of them in secret.

But all thinges when they are reproued of the light, are manifest: for it is light that maketh all things manifest.

Wherefore hee sayeth, Awake thou that sleepest, and stande vp from the deade, and Christ shall giue thee light.

Take heede therefore that yee walke circumspectly, not as fooles, but as wise,

Redeeming ye season: for ye daies are euill.

Wherefore, be ye not vnwise, but vnderstand what the will of the Lord is.

And be not drunke with wine, wherein is excesse: but be fulfilled with the Spirit,

Speaking vnto your selues in psalmes, and hymnes, and spirituall songs, singing, and making melodie to the Lord in your hearts,

Giuing thankes alwaies for all thinges vnto God euen the Father, in the Name of our Lord Iesus Christ,

Wives and Husbands

(Song of Solomon 1:1–17; 1 Peter 3:1–7)

Submitting your selues one to another in the feare of God.

Wiues, submit your selues vnto your husbands, as vnto the Lord.

For the husband is the wiues head, euen as Christ is the head of the Church, and the same is the sauiour of his body.

Therfore as the Church is in subiection to Christ, euen so let the wiues be to their husbands in euery thing.

Husbands, loue your wiues, euen as Christ loued the Church, and gaue himselfe for it,

That hee might sanctifie it, and clense it by the washing of water through the worde,

That hee might make it vnto him selfe a glorious Church, not hauing spot or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that it shoulde bee holy and without blame.

So ought men to loue their wiues, as their owne bodies: he that loueth his wife, loueth him selfe.

For no man euer yet hated his owne flesh, but nourisheth and cherisheth it, euen as the Lord doeth the Church.

For we are members of his bodie, of his flesh, and of his bones.

For this cause shall a man leaue father and mother, and shall cleaue to his wife, and they twaine shalbe one flesh.

This is a great secrete, but I speake concerning Christ, and concerning the Church.

Therefore euery one of you, doe ye so: let euery one loue his wife, euen as himselfe, and let the wife see that shee feare her husband.

Wandle in der Liebe

Seid den Nachahmer Gottes als geliebte Kinder;

und wandelt in Liebe, wie auch Christus uns geliebt und sich selbst für uns dahingegeben hat als Gabe und Opfer, Gott zum lieblichen Geruche.

Unzucht und jede Art von Unlauterkeit oder Habsucht werde nicht einmal genannt unter euch, wie es Heiligen geziemt,

noch schandbares Wesen, oder törichte oder leichtfertige Reden, was ungeziemend ist, sondern vielmehr Danksagung.

Denn das wisset, indem ihr erkennt, dass kein Unzüchtiger oder Unreiner oder Habsüchtiger, was Götzendienst ist, ein Erbteil hat im Reiche Christi und Gottes.

Lasset euch von Niemanden täuschen mit eitlen Worten; denn um dieser Dinge willen kommt der Zorn Gottes über die Kinder des Unglaubens.

Werdet also nicht Teilnehmer an solchen Sünden!

Wandelt im Licht

Denn ihr waret einst Finsternis, jetzt aber seid ihr Licht im Herrn. Wandelt als Kinder des Lichtes!

Denn die Frucht des Lichtes besteht in jeglicher Güte und Gerechtigkeit und Wahrheit.

Prüfet, was Gott wohlgefällig ist,

und nehmet nicht teil an den unfruchtbaren Werken der Finsternis, sondern rüget sie vielmehr!

Denn das, was im Verborgenen von ihnen geschieht, ist schändlich auch nur auszusprechen.

Alles aber, was gerügt wird, wird durch das Licht offenbar; denn alles, was offenbar gemacht wird, ist Licht.

Darum heißt es: Wache auf, der du schläfst, und stehe auf von den Toten, so wird Christus dich erleuchten!

Wandelt in Weisheit

So sehet denn zu, Brüder! wie ihr vorsichtig wandelt; nicht wie Unweise,

sondern wie Weise, indem ihr die Zeit wohl benützet; denn die Tage sind böse.

Darum werdet nicht unverständig, sondern sehet ein, was der Wille Gottes ist.

Auch berauschet euch nicht mit Wein, da dies zur Unreinigkeit führt, sondern werdet voll des Heiligen Geistes,

zueinander redend in Psalmen und Lobgesängen und geistlichen Liedern, dem Herrn in euren Herzen singend und jubelnd;

immerdar danksagend für alles im Namen unsers Herrn Jesu Christi, Gott und dem Vater!

(Hohelied 1,1-17; 1. Petrus 3,1-7)

Seid einander untertänig in der Furcht Christi!

Ehe - Christus und die Versammlung

Die Frauen seien ihren Männern untergeben wie dem Herrn;

denn der Mann ist das Haupt der Frau, wie Christus das Haupt der Kirche ist; er, der Erlöser seines Leibes.

Nun aber wie die Kirche Christus untertan ist, so seien auch die Frauen ihren Männern in allem unterwürfig.

Ihr Männer! Liebet eure Frauen, so wie auch Christus die Kirche geliebt und sich selbst für sie hingegeben hat,

sie zu heiligen, indem er sie reinigte durch das Bad des Wassers, vermittels des Wortes des Lebens,

damit er sich selbst die Kirche herrlich darstellte, ohne Makel, ohne Runzel oder etwas dergleichen, vielmehr dass sie heilig und fleckenlos sei.

So sind auch die Männer schuldig ihre Frauen zu lieben, wie ihre eigenen Leiber. Wer sein Weib liebt, liebt sich selbst.

Denn niemand hat noch sein eigenes Fleisch gehasst, sondern er hegt und pflegt es, wie auch Christus die Kirche;

weil wir Glieder seines Leibes sind, von seinem Fleisch und von seinem Gebein.

Darum wird der Mensch seinen Vater und seine Mutter verlassen, und seinem Weibe anhangen; und die zwei werden ein Fleisch sein.

Dieses Geheimnis ist groß, ich sage aber in Christus und der Kirche.

Indes sollt auch ihr insgesamt ein jeder sein Weib lieben wie sich selbst; das Weib aber fürchte ihren Mann.
