- Kapitel 10 -

The people who sealed the covenant

Now they that sealed were Nehemiah the Tirshatha the sonne of Hachaliah, and Zidkiiah,

Seraiah, Azariah, Ieremiah,

Pashur, Amariah, Malchiah,

Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch,

Harim, Merimoth, Obadiah,

Daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch,

Meshullam, Abiiah, Miamin,

Maaziah, Bilgai, Shemaiah: these are the Priestes.

And the Leuites: Ieshua the sonne of Azaniah, Binnui, of the sonnes of Henadad, Kadmiel.

And their brethren Shebaniah, Hodiiah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanun,

Micha, Rehob, Hashabiah,

Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah,

Hodiah, Bani, Beninu.

The chiefe of the people were Parosh, Pahath Moab, Elam, Zattu, Bani,

Hodiah, Hashum, Bezai,

Hariph, Anathoth, Nebai,

Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah,

Hoshea, Hananiah, Hashub,

Hallohesh, Pileha, Shobek,

Rehum, Hashabnah, Maaseiah,

And Ahiiah, Hanan, Anan,

Malluch, Harim, Baanah.

The covenant that was sealed

And the rest of the people, the Priestes, the Leuites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all that were separated from the people of the landes vnto the Lawe of God, their wiues, their sonnes, and their daughters, all that coulde vnderstande.

The chiefe of them receiued it for their brethren, and they came to the curse and to the othe to walke in Gods Law, which was giuen by Moses the seruant of God, to obserue and doe all the commandements of the Lord our God, and his iudgements and his statutes:

And that we would not giue our daughters to the people of the lande, neither take their daughters for our sonnes.

And if the people of the lande brought ware on the Sabbath, or any vitailes to sell, that we would not take it of them on the Sabbath and on the holy dayes: and that we would let the seuenth yeere be free, and the debtes of euery person.

And we made statutes for our selues to giue by the yeere the thirde part of a shekel for the seruice of the house of our God,

For the shewbread, and for the daily offring, and for the daily burnt offring, the Sabbaths, the newe moones, for the solemne feastes, and for the thinges that were sanctified, and for the sinne offrings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the worke of the house of our God.

We cast also lottes for the offering of the wood, euen the Priestes, the Leuites and the people to bring it into the house of our God, by the house of our fathers, yeerely at the times appointed, to burne it vpon the altar of the Lord our God, as it is written in the Lawe,

And to bring the first fruites of our land, and the first of all the fruites of all trees, yeere by yeere, into the house of the Lord,

And the first borne of our sonnes, and of our cattel, as it is written in the Lawe, and the first borne of our bullockes and of our sheepe, to bring it into the house of our God, vnto ye Priests that minister in the house of our God,

And that we should bring the first fruite of our dough, and our offrings, and the fruite of euery tree, of wine and of oyle, vnto the Priests, to the chambers of the house of our God: and the tithes of our lande vnto the Leuites, that the Leuites might haue the tithes in all the cities of our trauaile.

And the Priest, the sonne of Aaron shall be with the Leuites, when ye Leuites take tithes, and the Leuites shall bring vp the tenth parte of the tithes vnto the house of our God, vnto the chambers of the treasure house.

For the children of Israel, and the children of Leui shall bring vp the offerings of the corne, of the wine, and of the oyle, vnto the chabers: and there shalbe the vessels of the Sanctuarie, and the Priestes that minister, and the porters, and the fingers, and we will not forsake the house of our God.

Das Volk, das den Bund besiegelte

Diejenigen, welche ihn siegelten, waren: Nehemias, der Athersatha, der Sohn Hachelais, und Sedekias,

Sarajas, Azarias, Jeremias,

Pheshur, Amarias, Melchias,

Hattus, Sebenia, Melluch,

Harem, Merimuth, Obdias,

Daniel, Genthon, Baruch,

Mosollam, Abia, Miamin,

Maazia, Belgai, Semeja; das waren die Priester.

Und die Leviten: Josue, der Sohn Azanias, Bennui, von den Söhnen Henadad, Kedmihel,

und ihre Brüder: Sebenia, Odaja, Kelita, Phalaja, Hanan,

Micha, Rohob, Hasebia,

Zachur, Serebia, Sabania,

Odaja, Bani, Baninu,

Die Häupter des Volkes: Pharos, Phahathmoab, Älam, Zethu, Bani,

Odaja, Hasum, Besai,

Hareph, Anathoth, Nebai,

Osee, Hanania, Hasub,

Alohes, Phalea, Sobek,

Rehum, Hasebna, Maasia,

Echaja, Hanan, Anan,

Melluch, Haran, Baana.

Der Bund, der versiegelt wurde

Und das übrige Volk, die Priester, Leviten, Türhüter, Sänger, Nathinäer und alle, welche sich von den Völkern der Länder zum Gesetze Gottes abgesondert hatten, deren Frauen, Söhne und Töchter,

alle, welche es verstehen konnten, gelobten für ihre Brüder, die Vornehmen unter ihnen, und wer nur kam, um zu versprechen und zu beschwören, dass sie nach dem Gesetze Gottes wandeln, welches er durch Moses, den Diener Gottes, gegeben, und alle Gebote des Herrn, unsers Gottes, und seine Rechte und seine Satzungen beobachten und halten,

und dass wir unsere Töchter dem Volke des Landes nicht geben und ihre Töchter nicht für unsere Söhne nehmen wollten.

Und den Völkern des Landes, welche am Tage des Sabbats waren und andere Dinge aller Art zum Verkaufe bringen, wollen wir am Sabbate oder an einem geheiligten Tage nichts abnehmen. Und wir wollen im siebten Jahre den Erlass gewähren und von jeder Schuldforderung abstehen.

Auch wollen wir es uns zum Gebote machen, alljährlich den dritten Teil eines Sekels für den Dienst im Hause unseres Gottes zu geben,

für die Schaubrote und für das immerwährende Speiseopfer und für das immerwährende Brandopfer, an den Sabbaten, den Neumonden, den Festtagen, und für die Weihegaben und für das Sündopfer, dass zur Sühne für Israel gebetet werde, und für alles, was im Hause unsers Gottes benötigt ist.

Wir warfen also das Los unter den Priestern und Leviten und dem Volk wegen der Darbringung des Holzes, dass wir es zu bestimmten Zeiten, jahraus jahrein, der Reihenfolge der Häuser unserer Väter gemäß in das Haus unsers Gottes brächten, damit es auf dem Altare des Herrn, unsers Gottes, verbrannt werde, wie im Gesetze Moses geschrieben steht;

und dass wir die Erstlinge unseres Bodens und die Erstlinge aller Früchte von jeder Art von Bäumen von Jahr zu Jahr in dem Hause des Herrn darbrächten

und die Erstgeburten unserer Söhne und unsers Viehes, wie im Gesetze geschrieben steht, sowie die Erstlinge unserer Rinder und unserer Schafe im Hause unsers Gottes den Priestern darbrächten, welche im Hause unsers Gottes Dienst tun;

und die Erstlinge unserer Speisen und unserer Trankopfer und die Früchte von jeder Art von Bäumen und der Weinlese und des Öles, wollen wir den Priestern für die Schatzkammer unseres Gottes bringen und den Zehnten unsers Landes den Leviten. Die Leviten selbst sollen den Zehnten aus allen Städten erheben, wo wir Ackerbau treiben.

Der Priester aber, der Sohn Aarons, soll bei den Leviten sein, wenn sie den Zehnten empfangen, und die Leviten sollen den Zehnten ihres Zehnten in das Haus unsers Gottes zur Schatzkammer in das Schatzhaus bringen.

Denn zur Schatzkammer sollen die Söhne Israels und die Söhne Levis die Erstlinge vom Getreide, Wein und Öl bringen, und daselbst sollen die heiligen Geräte und die Priester und die Sänger und die Türhüter und die Diener sein, und wir wollen das Haus unsers Gottes nicht verlassen.
