The Book of the Prophet Jeremiah

- Kapitel 28 -

And it comes to pass, in that year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, Hananiah son of Azur the prophet, who [is] of Gibeon, has spoken to me in the house of YHWH, before the eyes of the priests, and all the people, saying,

“Thus spoke YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon;

within two years of days I am bringing back to this place all the vessels of the house of YHWH that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has taken from this place, and carries to Babylon,

and Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the expulsion of Judah, who are entering Babylon, I am bringing back to this place—a declaration of YHWH; for I break the yoke of the king of Babylon.”

And Jeremiah the prophet says to Hananiah the prophet, before the eyes of the priests, and before the eyes of all the people who are standing in the house of YHWH,

indeed, Jeremiah the prophet says, “Amen! So may YHWH do; YHWH establish your words that you have prophesied, to bring back the vessels of the house of YHWH and all the expulsion from Babylon, to this place.

Only, please hear this word that I am speaking in your ears, and in the ears of all the people.

The prophets who have been before me, and before you, from of old, even they prophesy concerning many lands, and concerning great kingdoms, of battle, and of calamity, and of pestilence.

The prophet who prophesies of peace, by the word of the prophet coming to pass, the prophet is known [as] one whom YHWH has truly sent.”

And Hananiah the prophet takes the yoke from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, and breaks it,

and Hananiah speaks before the eyes of all the people, saying, “Thus said YHWH: Thus I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, within two years of days, from off the neck of all the nations”; and Jeremiah the prophet goes on his way.

And there is a word of YHWH to Jeremiah after the breaking, by Hananiah the prophet, of the yoke from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, saying,

“Go, and you have spoken to Hananiah, saying, Thus said YHWH: You have broken yokes of wood, and I have made yokes of iron instead of them.

For thus said YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel: I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations to serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and they have served him, and I have also given the beast of the field to him.”

And Jeremiah the prophet says to Hananiah the prophet, “Now hear, O Hananiah; YHWH has not sent you, and you have caused this people to trust on falsehood.

Therefore, thus said YHWH: Behold, I am casting you from off the face of the ground; you die this year, for you have spoken apostasy concerning YHWH.”

And Hananiah the prophet dies in that year, in the seventh month.

Und es geschah in jenem Jahre, im Anfange der Herrschaft Sedekias, des Königs von Juda, im vierten Jahre, im fünften Monate, da sprach Hananias, der Sohn Azurs, der Prophet aus Gabaon, zu mir, im Hause des Herrn, in Gegenwart der Priester und des ganzen Volkes, also:

So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Ich zerbreche das Joch des Königs von Babylon.

Noch zweier Jahre Frist und ich lasse alle Geräte des Hauses des Herrn, die Nabuchodonosor, der König von Babylon, von diesem Ort weggenommen und nach Babylon fortgeführt hat, an diesen Ort zurückbringen.

Auch Jechonias, den Sohn Joakims, den König von Juda und alle Gefangenen von Juda, die nach Babylon gekommen sind, will ich an diesen Ort zurückführen, spricht der Herr, denn ich werde das Joch des Königs von Babylon zerbrechen.

Da sprach der Prophet Jeremias zu Hananias, dem Propheten, in Gegenwart der Priester und des ganzen Volkes, das im Hause des Herrn stand,

und es sprach der Prophet Jeremias: Es geschehe! Also tue der Herr! Der Herr lasse deine Worte, die du geweissagt hast, in Erfüllung gehen, dass die Geräte in das Haus des Herrn zurückkommen und alle Weggeführten von Babylon an diesen Ort!

Doch höre dieses Wort, das ich vor deinen Ohren und vor den Ohren des ganzen Volkes rede:

Die Propheten, welche vor mir und vor dir von alten Zeiten her aufgetreten sind, auch sie weissagten über viele Länder und über große Reiche von Krieg, Drangsal und Hunger.

Der Prophet nun, welcher Frieden weissagt, wird als Prophet, den der Herr in Wahrheit gesandt hat, erkannt werden, wenn sein Wort eintrifft.

Da nahm Hananias, der Prophet, die Kette vom Halse des Propheten Jeremias und zerbrach sie.

Und Hananias redete vor dem ganzen Volke also: So spricht der Herr: Ebenso werde ich das Joch Nabuchodonosors, des Königs von Babylon, binnen zwei Jahren zerbrechen und vom Halse aller Völker nehmen.

Der Prophet Jeremias aber ging fort seines Weges. Da erging das Wort des Herrn an Jeremias, nachdem der Prophet Hananias die Kette, welche am Halse des Propheten Jeremias war, zerbrochen hatte, also:

Gehe hin und sage zu Hananias: So spricht der Herr: Ketten aus Holz hast du zerbrochen, aber du bereitest an deren Stelle solche aus Eisen.

Denn so spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Ein Joch von Eisen lege ich auf den Hals aller dieser Völker, dass sie Nabuchodonosor, dem Könige von Babylon, dienstbar werden; sie werden ihm dienstbar sein, ja, selbst die Tiere des Feldes übergebe ich ihm.

Da sprach der Prophet Jeremias zu dem Propheten Hananias: Höre, Hananias! der Herr hat dich nicht gesandt und du hast dieses Volk verleitet, auf Lügen zu vertrauen.

Darum spricht der Herr also: Siehe, ich will dich vom Erdboden wegraffen, in diesem Jahre sollst du sterben, denn du hast wider den Herrn geredet.

Und der Prophet Hananias starb in demselben Jahre, im siebenten Monate.
