- Chapter 120 -

In my distress I cried out to the Lord

1
A SONG OF THE ASCENTS. I have called to YHWH in my distress, || And He answers me.
2
O YHWH, deliver my soul from a lying lip, || From a deceitful tongue!
3
What does He give to you? And what does He add to you? O deceitful tongue!
4
Sharp arrows of a mighty one, with coals of broom trees.
5
Woe to me, for I have inhabited Mesech, || I have dwelt with tents of Kedar.
6
My soul has dwelt too much with him who is hating peace.
7
Ipeace, and when I speak they [are] for war!

In my distress I cried out to the Lord

1
In my distress, I cried to the LORD. He answered me.
2
Deliver my soul, LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.
3
What will be given to you, and what will be done more to you, you deceitful tongue?
4
Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.
5
Woe is me, that I live in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
6
My soul has had her dwelling too long with him who hates peace.
7
I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war.
