- Chapter 1 -

The two paths

(Matthew 5:3-12; Luke 6:20-23)
1
O the blessedness of that one, || Who has not walked in the counsel of the wicked, || And has not stood in the way of sinners, || And has not sat in the seat of scorners;
2
But his delight [is] in the Law of YHWH, || And in His law he meditates by day and by night:
3
And he has been as a tree, || Planted by streams of water, || That gives its fruit in its season, || And its leaf does not wither, || And all that he does he causes to prosper.
4
Not so the wicked: But [they are] as chaff that wind drives away!
5
Therefore the wicked do not rise in judgment, || Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous,
6
For YHWH is knowing the way of the righteous, || And the way of the wicked is lost!

The two paths

(Matthew 5:3-12; Luke 6:20-23)
1
Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers;
2
but his delight is in the LORD’s(a) law. On his law he meditates day and night.
3
He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper.
4
The wicked are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
5
Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.
