- Kapitel 11 -

(Deuteronomy 14:1–21; Acts 10:9–16)

Yahweh said to Aaron and Moses,

“Tell the people that this is what I say: ’Of all the animals that live on the land, these are the ones that you are permitted to eat.
3
The ones that have hooves that are completely split and that chew their cuds, you may eat these animals.
4
There are some animals that chew their cuds but do not have split hooves, and some animals that have split hooves but do not chew their cuds. You must not eat any of those animals. For example, camels chew their cuds but do not have split hooves, so they are unacceptable for you to eat.

Rock badgers chew their cuds but do not have split hooves, so they are unacceptable for you to eat.
6
Rabbits chew their cuds but do not have split hooves, so they are unacceptable for you to eat.
7
Pigs have completely split hooves but they do not chew their cuds, so they are not acceptable for you to eat.
8
All of those animals are unacceptable for you, so you must not eat their meat or even touch their carcasses.
9
Of all the creatures that live in the oceans and the streams, you are permitted to eat any that have fins and scales.
10
But you must detest and not eat those that do not have fins and scales. That includes creatures that are very small.
11
You must despise them, and you must not eat their meat, and you must detest their carcasses.
12
You must detest everything that lives in the water that does not have fins and scales.
13
There are some birds that you must detest and not eat. They include eagles, vultures,
14
kites, any kind of falcon,
15
any kind of raven,
16
horned owls, screech owls, seagulls, and any kind of hawk.
17
Also small owls, large owls, cormorants,
18
white owls, barn owls, ospreys,
19
storks, any kind of heron, hoopoes, and bats.
20
You must detest and not eat flying insects that also walk on the ground.
21
But you are permitted to eat creatures with wings that sometimes walk on the ground if they have jointed legs for hopping around.
22
They include locusts, katydids, crickets, and grasshoppers.
23
But you must detest and not eat other insects with wings that have four legs.
24
There are certain creatures that will make you unacceptable to me if you touch their carcasses. Anyone who touches their carcasses must not touch other people until that evening.
25
Anyone who picks up one of their carcasses must wash his clothes and not touch other people until that evening.
26
The animals whose carcasses you must not touch are those that have hooves that are not completely divided or animals that do not chew their cud. Anyone who touches the carcasses of any of those animals becomes defiled.
27
From all the animals that walk on the ground, you must not touch the carcasses of those that have paws to walk on. Anyone who touches one of their carcasses must not touch other people until that evening.
28
Anyone who picks up one of their carcasses must wash his clothes and not touch other people until that evening, because touching their carcasses makes you unacceptable to me.
29
Of all the animals that walk on the ground, these are the ones that make you unacceptable if you touch them: Weasels, rats, any kind of big lizard,
30
geckos, monitor lizards and other lizards, skinks, and chameleons.
31
The creatures that crawl along the ground make you unacceptable to me. Anyone who touches one of their carcasses must not touch other people until the evening.
32
When one of those creatures dies and falls on something, the thing that it falls on, whatever it is used for, will become defiled, whether it is made of wood, cloth, the hide of some animal or from rough cloth. You must put the object into water. Then you must not use it until that evening.
33
If one of those unclean creatures falls into a clay pot, everything in it becomes defiled, and you must break that pot.
34
If you pour water from that pot onto any food, you must not eat that food. And you must not drink any water from that pot.
35
Anything that one of the carcasses of those creatures falls on becomes defiled, even if the creature falls into an oven or a cooking pot. Anything that it falls on must be broken. It becomes unacceptable to me, and you must not use it again.
36
If one of their carcasses falls into a spring or a pit for storing water, the water may still be drunk, but anyone who touches one of those carcasses becomes unacceptable to me.
37
If one of those carcasses falls on seeds that are to be planted, those seeds are still acceptable to be planted.
38
But if water has been put on the seeds and then a carcass falls on it, the seeds must be thrown away; you must regard them as unacceptable.
39
If an animal whose meat you are permitted to eat dies, anyone who touches its carcass must not touch other people until that evening.
40
Anyone who eats some meat from that carcass must wash his clothes, and then he must not touch anyone until that evening.
41
All creatures that crawl along the ground,
42
including those that move on their bellies and those that crawl along, are detestable, and they must not be eaten.
43
Do not defile yourselves by eating any of those creatures. Be very careful about this.
44
I am Yahweh your God, and I am holy, so you must set yourselves apart for my honor, and you must be holy. You must avoid eating things that cause you to be unacceptable to me. Do not cause yourselves to become unacceptable to me by eating creatures that crawl along on the ground.
45
I am Yahweh, the one who freed you from being slaves in Egypt, in order that you might worship me. Therefore, because I am holy, you must be holy.
46
Those are the regulations concerning animals and birds, all the living creatures that live in water or creep along on the ground.
47
You must learn what things I say are acceptable to me and what things are not, and learn what things you are permitted to eat and what things you are not permitted to eat.’”

Und der Herr redete zu Moses und Aaron und sprach:

Saget den Söhnen Israels: Folgendes sind die Tiere, welche ihr von allen Tieren der Erde essen dürft:

Alles, was unter den Tieren gespaltene Klauen hat und wiederkäut, dürft ihr essen.
4
Was aber zwar wiederkäut und Klauen hat, aber nicht gespaltene, wie das Kamel und andere, das sollt ihr nicht essen, und dies soll euch als unrein gelten.
5
Der Igel, der zwar wiederkäut, aber keine gespaltenen Klauen hat, ist unrein.
6
Ebenso der Hase; denn auch er käut zwar wieder, hat aber keine gespaltenen Klauen.
7
Desgleichen das Schwein, den es hat zwar gespaltene Klauen, aber käut nicht wieder.
8
Ihr Fleisch sollt ihr nicht essen, noch ihr Aas berühren; denn sie sind für euch unrein.
9
Folgende Tiere, welche im Wasser leben, dürft ihr essen: Alles was Flossen und Schuppen hat, sowohl im Meere als in Strömen und Teichen, sollt ihr essen.

Alles aber, was keine Flossen und Schuppen hat von dem, was im Wasser lebt und webt, soll euch ein Abscheu
11
und Greuel sein; ihr Fleisch sollt ihr nicht genießen und ihrem Aase ausweichen.
12
Alles, was im Wasser keine Flossen und Schuppen hat, soll unrein sein.
13
Von den Vögeln sind es folgende, die ihr nicht essen dürft und meiden sollt: Der Adler, der Greis, der Meeradler,
14
die Weihe, das Geschlecht der Geier,
15
alles, was zur Rabenart gehört und ihnen ähnlich ist,
16
der Strauß, die Nachteule, die Möwe, das Geschlecht der Sperber;
17
der Uhu, der Taucher, der Ibis,
18
der Schwan, der Pelican, der Purpurvogel,
19
der Reiher, das Geschlecht der Regenpfeifer, der Wiedehopf, und die Fledermaus.
20
Alle fliegenden Tiere, welche auf vier Füßen gehen, sollen euch ein Greuel sein.
21
Was aber zwar auf vier Füßen geht, hinten jedoch längere Füße hat, mit denen es auf der Erde hüpft,
22
das dürft ihr essen, wie: das Geschlecht der Zugheuschrecken, den Attakus, den Schlangenfechter, die Heuschrecke, mit ihren Arten.
23
Alle fliegenden Tiere aber, die nur vier Füße haben, sollen euch ein Greuel sein.

Unreine Tiere

Und wer ein Aas von diesen berührt, soll befleckt und unrein sein bis zum Abend.
25
Und wenn es nötig ist, dass jemand etwas von solchem Aase trägt, so soll er seine Kleider waschen und unrein sein bis zum Sonnenuntergang.
26
Alle Tiere, welche zwar Klauen haben, aber keine gespaltenen, und nicht wiederkäuen, sollen unrein sein; und wer sie berührt, soll unrein sein.
27
Was unter allen Tieren, die auf vieren gehen, auf Tatzen läuft, soll unrein sein. Wer das Aas davon berührt, soll unrein sein bis zum Abend.
28
Und wer solches Aas trägt, soll seine Kleider waschen und soll unrein sein bis zum Abend; denn dies alles ist für euch unrein.
29
Auch folgende unter denen, die sich auf der Erde bewegen, sollen euch als unrein gelten; das Wiesel, die Maus, das Krokodil, jedes nach seiner Art,
30
die Spitzmaus, das Chamäleon, die Sterneidechse, die grüne Eidechse, und der Maulwurf.
31
Alle diese sind unrein. Wer ihr Aas berührt, soll unrein sein bis zum Abend;
32
und alles, worauf etwas vom Aase derselben fällt, soll unrein sein, sowohl hölzerne Geräte und Kleider, als Felle und härene Zeuge; und alle Gefäße, die zum Gebrauche dienen, sollen in Wasser getaucht werden und unrein sein bis an den Abend, und auf solche Art sollen sie dann wieder rein werden.

Ein irdenes Gefäß aber, in welches etwas davon hineinfällt, soll unrein sein und deswegen zerbrochen werden.
34
Jede Speise, die ihr esset, soll unrein sein, wenn solches Wasser darauf kommt; und jedes Getränk, das man aus allen solchen Geschirren trinkt, soll unrein sein.
35
Und alles, worauf etwas von solchem Aase fällt, soll unrein sein; Öfen und Kochherde sollen eingegriffen werden und unrein sein.
36
Brunnen aber und Gruben, und alle Ansammlungen von Wasser sollen rein sein. Wer indes das Aas davon berührt, soll unrein sein.
37
Wenn es auf Samen fällt, soll es ihn nicht verunreinigen.
38
Begießt aber jemand den Samen mit Wasser, und nachher fällt ein Aas darauf, so soll er alsbald als unrein gelten.
39
Wenn ein Tier fällt, das euch zu essen erlaubt ist, so soll der, welcher sein Aas berührt, unrein sein bis zum Abend;
40
und wer etwas davon ißt, oder trägt, soll seine Kleider waschen und unrein sein bis zum Abend.
41
Alles, was auf der Erde kriecht, soll euch ein Greuel sein und nicht zur Speise gebraucht werden.
42
Alles, was auf dem Bauche geht, sei es auf vieren oder auf vielen Füßen, oder sich auf dem Boden fortschleppt, sollt ihr nicht essen, denn es ist ein Abscheu.
43
Beflecket eure Seelen nicht und rühret nichts davon an, damit ihr nicht unrein werdet;
44
denn ich bin der Herr euer Gott; seid heilig, wie ich heilig bin. Beflecket eure Seelen nicht durch irgend ein kriechendes Tier, das sich auf der Erde bewegt.
45
Denn ich bin der Herr, der euch aus dem Lande Ägypten geführt hat, damit ich euer Gott sei. Ihr sollt heilig sein, denn ich bin heilig.
46
Das sind die Vorschriften betreffs der Tiere, und Vögel, und aller lebenden Wesen, welche sich im Wasser tummeln und auf der Erde kriechen,
47
damit ihr den Unterschied zwischen Reinem und Unreinem kennet und wisset, was ihr essen dürft, und was ihr verwerfen sollt.
