- Kapitel 9 -

Wisdom and unreason. Appeal to wisdom

(Proverbs 1:1-7)

Wisdom builds her own house, just like a woman who has built her home; she made seven pillars to support the roof of her house.

She prepared a meal and set her table; she prepared the animals and cooked them to serve for the dinner, and she made the wine ready for her guests.

Like a woman who sends out her maids to give the invitations to her guests, Wisdom calls out from the highest place in the city for all to hear, and she says:

“If you are still immature, come here,” and she gives the invitation to those who have no good judgment.

“Come and eat the food that I have prepared,” she says, “and drink the good wine that I have mixed.
6
Leave your untrained ways behind you, and live, and I will show you how to walk on the road that will give you understanding.

Exhortation to wisdom

If you rebuke someone who says insulting things about other people, he will insult you, too. If you offer correction to an evil person, he will hurt you.

A person who insults others will hate you if you tell him to stop. But if you rebuke a wise person, he will become your friend.

If you give instruction to a wise person, he will become even more wise. And if you teach a person who does what is right, he will learn even more.

The first step in getting wisdom is to give Yahweh the respect he deserves, and knowing Yahweh, the Holy One, is where understanding comes from.

If you become wise, your days will be filled full, and you will add years to your life.
12
If you become wise, you will gain many benefits from it; if you ridicule other people, you will suffer by yourself.”

Calling of the reckless woman

A foolish woman talks loudly; she is untaught in the subjects of wisdom and she knows very little.

She sits at the door of her house or on the highest place in the town,

and she calls out to the men who are passing by, to those walking down the road, concerned only about where they are going.

“Any of you who have no experience, come here,” she says to those who have no good judgment.
17
“If you sleep with me, it will be as sweet as drinking water that you have stolen, or eating delicious food all by yourself.”
18
Any man who accepts her invitation does not know that the dead are in her home, that those who accepted her invitation and went into her house are now in the world of the dead.

Weisheit und Unvernunft. Appell an die Weisheit

(Sprüche 1,1-7)

Die Weisheit hat sich ein Haus gebaut, sich sieben Säulen ausgehauen.
2
Sie hat ihre Opfertiere geschlachtet, den Wein gemischt und ihren Tisch zugerichtet.
3
Sie sendet ihre Dienerinnen aus, dass sie rufen bei der Burg und bei den Mauern der Stadt:

„Ist jemand klein, er komme zu mir!“ Und den Unweisen ließ sie sagen:
5
„Kommet, esset mein Brot und trinket den Wein, den ich für euch gemischt habe!
6
Lasset von der Einfalt und lebet und wandelt auf den Wegen der Klugheit!“

Ermahnung zur Weisheit

Wer einen Spötter zurechtweist, zieht sich selber Unbilden zu; und wer einen Gottlosen tadelt, bereitet sich selbst eine Unzier.

Weise den Spötter nicht zurecht, dass er dich nicht hasse; weise den Weisen zurecht, und er wird dich lieben.
9
Gib dem Weisen Gelegenheit, so wird er in der Weisheit zunehmen; belehre den Gerechten, so wird er es schnell annehmen.
10
Die Furcht des Herrn ist der Weisheit Anfang und den Heiligen erkennen ist Einsicht.
11
Denn durch mich werden deiner Tage viele werden und die Jahre des Lebens sich dir mehren.
12
Wenn du weise bist, bist du für dich selbst weise; und bist du ein Spötter, so wirst du das Unheil allein tragen.

Berufung der rücksichtslosen Frau

Eine Frau, töricht, geschwätzig, voll der Lockungen und gänzlich unverständig,
14
setzt sich an der Türe ihres Hauses auf einen Sessel, auf erhöhtem Platze der Stadt,
15
um denen, welche des Weges vorüberkommen, und den Dahinwandelnden zuzurufen:
16
"Wer einfältig ist, wende sich zu mir!“ Und zu dem Unverständigen sagt sie:
17
„Gestohlene Wasser schmecken süßer, und heimlich zugestecktes Brot ist schmackhafter.“
18
Und er weiß nicht, dass dort Ungeheuer sind und in den Abgründen der Unterwelt ihre Gäste.
