- Kapitel 6 -

(Ephesians 6:5–9; Colossians 3:22–25)

Let all who are under the yoke as slaves regard their own masters as worthy of all honor. They should do this so that the name of God and the teaching might not be blasphemed.

The slaves who have believing masters should not disrespect them because they are brothers. Instead, they should serve them all the more. For the masters who are helped by their work are believers and are loved. Teach and declare these things.

Reject False Doctrines

Suppose that someone teaches differently and does not accept our faithful instruction, that is, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ. Suppose that they do not accept the teaching that leads to godliness.

That person is proud and knows nothing. Instead, he is sick with controversies and arguments about words. These words result in envy, strife, insults, evil suspicions, and

the constant conflict between people with depraved minds. They turn away from truth. They think that godliness is a way to become rich.

Godliness with Contentment

Now godliness with contentment is great gain.

For we have brought nothing into the world. Neither are we able to take out anything.

Instead, let us be satisfied with food and clothing.

Now those who want to become wealthy fall into temptation, into a trap. They fall into many foolish and harmful passions, and into whatever else makes people sink into ruin and destruction.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people who desire it have been mislead away from the faith and have pierced themselves with much grief.

Fight the Good Fight

But you, man of God, flee from these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, endurance, and gentleness.

Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the everlasting life to which you were called. It was about this that you gave witness before many witnesses as to what is good.

I give you this command before God, who causes all things to live, and before Christ Jesus, who spoke what is true to Pontius Pilate:

Keep the commandment perfectly, without reproach, until the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God will reveal his appearing at the right time-God, the Blessed One, the only power, the King who reigns, the Lord who rules.

Only he has immortality and dwells in inapproachable light. No man sees him or is able to view him. To him be honor and eternal power. Amen.

A Charge to the Rich

(Proverbs 23:1–5; James 5:1–6)

Tell the rich in this world not to be proud, and not to hope in riches, which are uncertain. Instead, they should hope in God. He offers to us all the true riches to enjoy.

Tell them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, and willing to share.

In that way, they will store up for themselves a good foundation for what is to come, so that they will take hold of real life.

Guard the Faith

Timothy, protect what was given to you. Avoid the foolish talk and contradictory arguments of what is falsely called knowledge.

Some men proclaim these things and so they have missed the faith. May grace be with you.

Meister ehren

(Epheser 6,5-9; Kolosser 3,22-25)

Alle, welche unter dem Joche als Sklaven dienen, sollen ihre Herren aller Ehre wert halten, damit nicht der Name des Herrn und die Lehre gelästert werde.

Diejenigen aber, welche gläubige Herren haben, sollen diese nicht deswegen geringschätzen, weil sie Brüder sind, sondern nur umso mehr dienstbar sein, weil es Gläubige und Geliebte sind, welche der Wohltat teilhaftig werden. Dies lehre und schärfe ein!

Irrtum und Habgier

Wenn jemand anders lehrt, und nicht an den heilsamen Worten unsers Herrn Jesus Christus hält und der der Frömmigkeit gemäßen Lehre,

der ist dünkelhaft, während er doch nichts versteht, vielmehr kränkelt an Streitfragen und Wortgezänk, aus welchen Neid, Hader, Lästerungen, böser Argwohn entstehen,

stete Händel von Menschen, die in ihrem Urteil verdorben und der Wahrheit bar sind, welche wähnen, die Frömmigkeit sei ein Mittel zum Gewinn.

In der Tat, ein großer Gewinn ist Frömmigkeit, wenn sie mit Genügsamkeit verbunden ist,

denn nichts haben wir in diese Welt hineingebracht; ohne Zweifel können wir auch nichts mit hinausnehmen.

Wenn wir jedoch Nahrung und Kleidung haben, so wollen wir uns daran genügen lassen.

Denn die reich werden wollen, fallen in Versuchung und in Fallstricke des Teufels, und viele unnütze und schädliche Begierden, welche die Menschen in Untergang und Verderben stürzen.

Denn die Habsucht ist eine Wurzel aller Übel; einige, die sich ihr ergaben, sind vom Glauben abgeirrt und haben sich in viele Schmerzen verstrickt.

Das gute Bekenntnis

Du aber, o Mann Gottes! fliehe dies; strebe vielmehr nach Gerechtigkeit, Frömmigkeit, Glauben, Liebe, Geduld, Sanftmut.

Kämpfe den guten Kampf des Glaubens, ergreife das ewige Leben, zu dem du berufen bist und für welches du das gute Bekenntnis abgelegt hast vor vielen Zeugen.

Ich gebiete dir vor Gott, der allem Leben gibt, und vor Christus Jesus, der unter Pontius Pilatus Zeugnis abgelegt hat, das gute Bekenntnis,

das Gebot unbefleckt und untadelhaft zu halten bis zur Ankunft unsers Herrn Jesus Christus,

welche zu seiner Zeit zeigen wird der selige und alleinige Machthaber, der König der Könige, und der Herr der Herrschenden,

der allein Unsterblichkeit besitzt und in unnahbarem Lichte wohnt; den kein Mensch gesehen hat, noch auch zu sehen vermag, dem Ehre und ewige Macht sei. Amen.

Anweisungen für die Reichen

(Sprüche 23,1-5; Jakobus 5,1-6)

Den Reichen dieser Welt gebiete, nicht hochmütig zu sein und ihre Hoffnung nicht auf unsicheren Reichtum zu setzen, sondern auf den lebendigen Gott (der uns alles reichlich zum Genusse darbietet),

Gutes zu tun, reich zu werden an guten Werken, freigebig zu sein, mitzuteilen,

sich einen Schatz als eine gute Grundlage für die Zukunft zu sammeln, damit sie das wahrhafte Leben ergreifen.

Hüte den Glauben

O Timotheus! bewahre, was dir anvertraut ist, indem du die verwerflichen Neuerungen im Reden und die Gegensätze der fälschlich so genannten Wissenschaft meidest,

zu welcher einige sich bekannt haben, und so vom Glauben abgefallen sind. Die Gnade sei mit dir! Amen.
